Lauren Boebert uses anti-trans slur at conservative conference as audience laughs

https://www.lgbtqnation.com/2023/06/lauren-boebert-uses-anti-trans-slur-at-conservative-conference-as-audience-laughs/

This is what qualifies as the Republican congressperson these days.    Someone who proudly uses slurs against minorities for laughs and preens over it.    She is like a kid who was unliked until she attacked a kid who also was unliked a bit more than her.   She is smug and happy, not realizing her new friends will abandon her as soon as she is not useful for hitting down at others.   These people on the right today don’t even pretend to like civility, decency, being nice or kind to others.    Everything they demand for themselves, they delight in denying for everyone else.   Thugs and childish bullies are now members of congress.   Plus she is always pushing her Christian religious views along with her ignorance of biology and hate for sex education in schools.   She had to leave school because she was pregnant as a young teen and her teen son also impregnated a young teen, now we find out she is getting a divorce along with all the members of her family being heavy drinkers.    Very good Christians?  No she is entitled white trash that got a golden ticket by using her body and hateful attacks on minorities.    Hugs

After years of attacking LGBTQ+ people – often without much skill – Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) has decided to just use slurs now.

“There’s wokism in the corporate world,” she said at the Western Conservative Summit in Denver over the weekend.

Her claim that Bud Light lost $27 billion in revenue due to their sponsorship of a 50-second Instagram video by trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney is wrong in multiple ways. First, she is referring to Anheuser-Bucsh’s market value, not revenue earned specifically by Bud Light. Bud Light is owned by Anheuser-Busch, which owns many popular beer brands in the U.S.

Second, the reason for the drop in market value can’t be pinned on the video with Dylan Mulvaney; there are many forces affecting the company’s market value and no reason to ignore all of them except for the Instagram video. Even the timing is off; the market value of Anheuser-Busch started dropping in mid-May, a month and a half after rightwingers started boycotting Bud Light because of the April 1 video.

America’s New #1 Beer Does Pro-LGBTQ Marketing. From JMG

I love the website Joe.My.God and the work they do.  Right now I still have open tabs from the news articles he posted on Monday that I have not gotten to yet.   I know many of my viewers never follow the links I post.  There is far more over at the website than I ever post here and I strongly recommend everyone visit the site.  Hugs

These knuckle draggers can not even google the name of their new best beer.   The same people that scream of how evil support of the LGBTQ+ is have not figured out a lot of the products / companies they spend their money on are big LGBTQ+ supporters.   But more important, this is a new drummed up outrage / fear campaign by the right wing media along with their fundamentalist nationalist who want the base to hate but not notice the party leaders are robbing them blind.   Here is a clip from the link in the article.   Hugs

LGBTQ support among beer brands is still widespread

All US leading light beer brands have a history of supporting LGBTQ rights, often in the form of sponsorship to pride events. Constellation Brands partners with Stonewall Sports, for instance, an organization promoting LGBTQ representation in sports. It was also listed as a top place to work for LGBTQ people several times over the years, and most recently in 2022, scoring 100/100 in workforce protection, inclusive benefits, and inclusive culture, in the Human Rights Campaign’s Equality Index.

Similarly, Molson Coors has sponsored several pride events, and so has Budweiser, also an AB InBev brand. Bud Light is far from being the only ally among beers—in fact, its handling of the Mulvaney boycott drove criticism for not being explicit in its support of the actress or the trans community.

Quartz reports:

Modelo Especial, a Mexican beer, is now officially America’s favorite. The beverage, marketed by Constellation Brands, was the top-selling beer for May, with 8.6% of all beer sales in the US, overtaking the long-time market leader Bud Light, an Anheuser-Busch (AB InBev) brand.

But if anti-LGBTQ activists think they were successful in making their point, they may be sorry to learn Constellation Brands has shown its support for LGBTQ rights even more than AB InBev. And so has Molson Coors, the maker of Coors Light, and Miller Lite.

The Nixon Papers: The Latest Ugly Turn in an Old Story

http://hnn.us/articles/1788.html

This is what trump is referring to when he says the government had to buy Nixon’s papers and they should be buying his.  I did not know of this and had to look it up and I figured maybe others might not know of this also.   Hugs

Mr. Kutler is the author of The Wars of Watergate.

Reports circulated recently that Congress is considering a proposal to give former President Richard M. Nixon’s Yorba Linda museum possession of his presidential materials, including some 46 million pages, hundreds of video tapes, and the unique cache of 4000 hours of taped conversations. Such legislation could close off public access, and allow for the destruction of millions of valuable, still-unprocessed, primary sources.

After Nixon resigned in August 1974, the Ford Administration acknowledged his ownership of the materials — including the right to destroy them. Congress objected, however, and passed the Presidential Recordings and Materials Act in 1974, taking control of the materials, insuring their deposit in the Washington area, and providing that the records be opened and made available to the public.

During his lifetime, Nixon successfully resisted various efforts to implement the law. He devised a maze of delaying tactics, and even secured the cooperation of the National Archives to keep the tapes sealed. When the Archives was sued to force compliance with the law, Nixon intervened. His death in 1994 seemingly ended the matter, as his family and estate no longer could afford the expense of further challenges. The lawsuit was settled, with the tapes opened, access secured, and matters of ownership, possession, and control finally resolved. Or so we thought.

Now, Nixon’s heirs and designees have resorted to stealth tactics to reverse settled laws and practices of thirty years and have his papers and tapes shipped to California. The proposed legislation has been promoted by a “bi-partisan,” well-connected, firm of lobbyists, which contends that “it’s in everyone’s interest to get all the records in one place, and in the hands of the archivist.” They are in one place, in “his hands,” in College Park, Maryland. If the Nixon people want the material in Yorba Linda, they can copy it, and do what they want with it, including maintaining their own peculiar vision of the Nixon presidency. That undoubtedly would be a lot cheaper than sending everything to California.

Richard Nixon’s heirs and friends continue to battle for control of his presidential records, just as vigorously as he did. The victory they seek would enable them to determine what may or may not be seen by historians and the public. And not incidentally, they would gain the considerable advantage of having the government provide housing for the material and maintaining their museum.

The Nixon Museum has not proven worthy of our trust. Listen to the so-called “smoking gun” tape on display at Yorba Linda. As played there, it is virtually impossible to understand the subject of discussion, and the extent of Nixon’s criminal actions. Will the curators play any new tapes, ones in which Nixon bluntly and openly speaks of his hush money payments to the burglars? Not likely. At Yorba Linda materials are used to resurrect Nixon’s familiar ploy of re-writing his own history, as he wished it to be. Only open, unbiased access to documents will get us closer to historical truth.

Why is this being done so secretly and swiftly? Where is the input by other interested parties, particularly archivists and historians? Important public policy decisions should be made with public scrutiny and participation. History is too important to be left to the Nixon Foundation, their lobbyists, and friends.

This issue should not be settled behind closed doors by lobbyists and fixers. The public is entitled to open hearings, hearings that will consider the financial costs and the sanctity of historical records for the proposed move.

Let the National Archives complete the processing of the President’s papers and tapes. The Archives is our national repository for national records, records that speak for themselves to our history and our understanding of the past. We need no political intervention to determine such matters.

Several years ago, the Nixon Foundation received $18 million as a payment for the government’s alleged “taking” of the Nixon Papers. That was a questionable concession — one largely arranged in a manner similar to the present undertaking. But all agree that the $18 million was a form of compensation for the papers. Now, the Nixon people want control of the papers. Can we at least have the $18 million paid back to the government?

A quarter century ago, during one of President Nixon’s periodic battles to gain control of his presidential papers and tapes, the Supreme Court rejected his claim. Justice John Paul Stevens noted that after three years it already was clear that the President had proven to be an “unreliable custodian” of his papers. Nothing has changed.

More slaves for corporate profit.

Start the young and work them until they die.   Keep the wages as low as possible to keep them desperate enough to take any job in any conditions.  All for corporate profits and greed.   In this time of hurt for the US public, corporations are recording record profits as their price gouging keeps inflation high.  In an attempt to keep the highest profits, the fed tried to blame the inflation on workers wages increasing a small amount, but it has been proven that what is driving inflation is corporate profits.    Hugs

Vandals Deface Seattle Mural Of Drag Icon Divine

I don’t know if the bigots that did this to a person’s home were driven by religious bigotry against the almost nude showing of the one woman’s boobs or the fact that a fully clothed Divine was also there, she was in a famous movie Hairspray and is a man in drag.  I have no idea of their pronouns, and I apologize if I wrongly gendered them.

Regardless, this is a property crime.  This is domestic terrorism causing harm to others for a political gain or point.  No one had the right to do what these four individuals did, but due to their right wing or religious views, they felt they were entitled to do so.  Their god’s happiness comes before the happiness or security of any human or people.   The right demands total obedience to their views, or they feel free to hurt and harm those that won’t do as they say.   This is how far the right has fallen into total fascism and dictatorship.  Do as we demand, live as we tell you, or we destroy your home, and even threaten your health and life.  It is very anti-democracy and the things the US use to be, but it is very much the way things went in the 1930s Germany.   That was when Hitler supporting Brownshirts did just what the gang thugs enforcement arm of the Republicans are doing today, attacking those that resisted the restrictions and ascendancy of their preferred fascist leaders.   It is a very scary time in the US as most people today don’t know or understand that history.    Hugs

They were seen on surveillance taking their time to douse the mural for nearly five minutes. The paint rained down on the roof the art, the porch, and the windows. Nothing was spared.

The owners of the house say whoever did this seems intent on destroying iconic feminist images.

Every other time, the owners have been intent on restoring the murals. This time, the entire house will have to be repainted. Anyone with information is asked to call Seattle police.

Seattle’s CBS affiliate reports:

Vandals targeted an iconic mural in Seattle early Sunday morning, according to the homeowner and video from the scene. The home – located off Interstate 5 near the Northeast 65th Street exit – has a mural on an outside wall that faces the freeway featuring 1950s pinup model Bettie Page and historic drag queen Divine.

Just after midnight Sunday, suspects approached the home with what appeared to be pressurized containers with red paint, which they used to cover the mural and much of the house. They were seen on surveillance taking their time to douse the mural for nearly five minutes. The paint rained down on the roof, the art, the porch, and the windows. Nothing was spared.

Read the full article. Watch the video. The owner of the home and his wife say repairs might cost $20,000, but the mural will stay.

*He. Divine was a man in drag.

Harris Glen Milstead was a man in drag.

It is perfectly acceptable to refer to Divine as “she.”

meanwhile, in the US House:

Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) paid homage to RuPaul Charles, the superstar drag queen and host of the reality series “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” on the House floor Wednesday, praising the barrier-breaking performer and Emmy Award winner for his commitment to uplifting the LGBTQ community.

https://thehill.com/homenew…

Robert Garcia is aggressively supportive of the community and a cage rattler (not always agree with him though) given the aggression coming from the GOP we need that level of energy.

Yesterday, I watched the 2000 documentary The Eyes of Tammy Faye, which RuPaul narrated. While it’s too bad that Tammy Faye isn’t alive anymore, it’s nice to know that she was totally the opposite of the Jerry Falwell types in terms of her social views.

and this:

“An Air Force official said that troops who have LGBTQ+ members in their families are being forced to move to new bases due to anti-LGBTQ bullying happening at schools.

Speaking at the Center for a New American Security’s annual National Security Conference, Assistant Air Force Secretary for Manpower and Reserve Affairs Alex Wagner said he’s worried about being forced to move families from bases due to their LGBTQ children experiencing bullying and harassment in schools.”

https://thehill.com/policy/…

Schools on military bases would be subject to DoD policies, which include strong support for LGBTQ service members and their families. The best part is DoD can and does enforce these policies, regardless of the local laws. A friend who is a military chaplain gripes occasionally about getting saddled running a lot of the family support programs because he belongs to an open and affirming denomination — chaplains representing less inclusive faiths are no longer allowed to participate in order to prevent discrimination against LGBTQ families.

Many military bases contract out to local school systems, this is where the majority of conflicts arise.

Maybe closing all those schools on military bases wasn’t such a good idea after all…

I wondered about that. DOD used to have a widespread school system. AF and Army bases stateside tend to be in rural areas and off-base schools would be a potential problem.

These bigots just hate showing their faces.

At night and yet they’re masked…
They’re familiar with their guilt, aren’t they?

Yet they’d probably vehemently reject the idea of wearing masks to protect themselves and others from COVID…

it is getting to the point where we need to install cameras or security guards at all of those iconic locations

An old white homophobic judge would just let them off.

I think it’s a real question of whether we will get through this month without something horrible happening. I hope I’m wrong.

I’m not too optimistic. The right have definitely grown emboldened.

Gofundme to help cover the cost of restoring it. Leftover funds go to Lambert House. The gofundme cover image shows the Laura Palmer/Britney Spears mashup image, which isn’t featured in the news article, but it’s the same house.

https://www.gofundme.com/f/…

If you read the original post on the gofundme:

“We also added a mural on our shed (a mashup of Britney Spears and Laura Palmer), also painted by Two Thangs and Mexcal. At the time, Britney had yet to be released from her oppressive conservator ship. Both Britney and the Twin Peaks character Laura Palmer are victims of abuse at the hands of their patriarchs. “

“Thanks to Two Thangs’ foresight [in adding graffiti-proof sealant], we will be able to clean Divine and Bettie. The Britney/Laura mashup is ruined. “

Don’t be lulled into complacency because you may live in a more liberal area. These terrorists are everywhere.

I live in the heart of Oakland County, surprisingly blue compared with where it was even ten years ago, and I won’t put out candidate or proposal lawn signs, or a rainbow flag, for fear of making my house a target for the crazies.

OK, what an afternoon.

Hello all my friends.   On Monday, I got some steroid shots in my back muscles to help with the pain.  But they say it takes three days for full effects.   I have to admit depending on how bad / hurting I am, the shots can help almost with in minutes of the injection.   Because of people being on vacation I did not see my normal provider so the question I have did not get answered.  But let’s move on.

This morning I got up like around 5 AM not able to sleep, that is one of the effects that these steroids have on me, I can not sleep, and I feel better than ever.   I can breathe again, I can move better, and I am feeling so much better.   But with my fragile bone situation they have to be very careful how much steroids I get.  Yesterday I worked on our laundry while Ron worked on the house and I was so full of pain and swollen muscles, Ron wanted to forbid me from any work today.  That ended up being not the case, but he is very upset while being grateful.

Hurricane Ian took the roof off the front room of our home, it was about 12 foot by 24 foot, give or take some inches for supports or such.   The county says it is 12 by 24, so that is what we go with.  Due to our roof being hit by other roofs and debris, our roof (which is a great AMS metal roof that has never failed)  split open on a tear on the south side of an east facing room roof and peeled it back over half the room.   That was my office and my electronics were in there,

After the storm we had to close off the room because we had a double french door there and so say six or more feet.   In the emergency Ron and James but up sheets of plywood we had over the opening to prevent any water coming in and keeping the heat out.  It was not the greatest situation, but until the inner roof was installed we had to close that part of the house off.   So recently we got the panels that we ordered right after the hurricane, so Ron and James put the inner roof up.  Ron has worked for a while to calk and fix any leaks.

Today when as much as could be done to weatherproof the room and with Ron trying to work in that room with no air flow and temperatures between 95 and 120 I declared that the wall had to come down so Ron could work in there without the heat causing him more health problems.   At first he resisted but when I laid it all out he agreed it needed to be done.     So after trying to work in the room with the high Florida heat he came in and covered in sweat and shaking the guy with MS said he was going to lay down.  When he got up he agreed I was correct.

So as Ron was working in the supper hot room that is east facing getting all the morning sun / heat getting it ready to take down the tarps on that side and the plywood on the rest of the house side.   I worked to move everything that had been piled / set in front of that are because we did not have room for it.   Once Ron was done came the real pain issue for me.

We had two lighter pieces of plywood across the top and on very heavy 1 inch plywood on the bottom supporting the upper ones.  Ron made sure when he took the two pieces off he made sure he took the brunt of the weight.  But I still had to help him carry them out to the family room where they are now stored.   He wanted to wait to take the biggest heaviest one off as he was really worried about my back and health.

But I moved most of the inside stuff and Rom moved the heavy stuff and then we took down the plywood.   For the first time since Ian made landfall Sept. 28, 2022, in the Fort Myers area as a Category 4 hurricane, we had a connection to the front of our home from the inside. The ferocious 150-mph winds lasted for over 8 hours as we were in the hurricane eye wall.  Our home had with stood every other hurricane, but one woman neighbor claims she had seen a mini tornado caused by the hurricane move over our home and several others in the same east / west direction, which would have caused their roofs to be ripped off and slam into ours.

So here is the photo I quickly took as Ron had taken the heavy stuff he wouldn’t let me handle out, and after I set up the fan.   It will be grand to get our room back.   But still we have to reapply to FEMA to pay for all the bids we finally got, but now FEMA has closed our account since it has been this long.  We have to now start a new account, get a new inspection and hope we get enough money for the 30 grand in home repairs we need after the Hurricane.   Hugs

Hugs and love for everyone.   I am going to try to eat before bed.   Scottie

ANALYSIS: Trump Made $82 Million From Ireland And UK Properties He Relentlessly Promoted While In Office

ANALYSIS: Trump Made $82 Million From Ireland And UK Properties He Relentlessly Promoted While In Office

Something everyone knew / knows.   Trump failed at every business attempt he made, and he clearly was into money laundering.   He got a break on TV when the show promoted him as a super wealthy, smart businessman that was a total fiction.  But he burned through the nearly 500 million he made from that like a drunk sailor on their first shore leave after a long voyage.  The financial experts say if he had put the 400 million his dad gave him in the bank, he would have far more money than he does now.   The most profit trump ever made was when he was president, and that was because his focus as president was enriching him self.   Too hell with the country, too hell with the laws, and to hell with the constitution, and worse every foreign decision was made with trump’s family profits in mind.  Trump’s focus has always been only on himself and his needs.

There are a lot of great comments, but I am seriously pushed for time and Ron pushed himself too hard outside when the heat on him was 102.   He has MS which means heat is the enemy, but he won’t listen until like now when he is feeling very bad, ill, sick.   So I have to divert my attention to caring for him.    Hugs
