  1. I read a statistic that said the USA has 5% of the world’s population but 25% percent of the world’s prison population. New Zealand has a relatively high rate of incarceration at 185 per 100,000, but that pales in comparison to the US where it’s 640 per 100,000. It’s quite clear that imprisoning more people for longer does not work.
