Odessa Texas Legislates Bathroom Use…

I like how he brings it all together and asks what is it for really?  He mentions that if it is to protect the kids then you need to outlaw youth pastors from the bathrooms.  He mentions how churches have abused far more children than trans people.   He asks what kind of community does it foster if everyone is looking at everyone to judge if they are manly enough or feminine enough to fit some people’s gender ideas.  He points out how hurtful the laws are and how they serve no purpose.  The mayor who passed it said he needed to bring the people back to god.  Rev. Trevors asks how this is going to do that.  Hugs

  1. The ordinance is the precise opposite of what Jesus would do.

I hope this isn’t offensive to trans men, but. I can’t wait to hear bitching and moaning about how people aren’t putting the seat down, and are missing the bowl, in women’s restrooms. Those who support this ordinance asked for that. Obviously this is from the perspective of a woman who is not threatened by other women coming in the same restroom at the same time I do, and also I’ve lived with men. I do not intend to imply that all men miss the bowl or forget to put the seat down.

I’m implying the usual unforeseen consequences of right-wing big ideas.

    1. Hi Ali. 😜😝😋😁😂🤣😏😍🤷‍♂️. Ali I don’t find it offensive and it reminds me what everyone seems to be missing on the right wing side. Every one of us grew up in families using the same bathrooms, boys and girls, men and women. I don’t remember issues with that from most people. To be honest as I am always, my situation was different from most young people, my bathroom time at all ages was not respected as my hell spawn siblings were. In fact me shutting the door was an invitation for more abuse.

But to be clear most people grow up in a home that once boys and girls reach a certain age where the parents know they are safe using the bathroom on their own, they grant them privacy. I don’t remember the seat issue being one in my home but it could have been. At one of my doctor’s offices I have seen a note taped to the wall like if you tinkle on the seat, please be neat, and wipe the seat. There are several others but I admit I can not remember them I see them so rarely. All are great word play. But the fact is in public single use restrooms, many men forget to lift the seat. I admit to occasionally forgetting to lower it back down myself.

Our worry here is not the seat but the floor. In the middle of the night both Ron and I would wake at the same time needing to urinate. Go pee in our vernacular. I would follow him in there to put my feet in a puddle. Needless to say I was less than impressed and very unhappy. But rather than make a big issue of it, I solved the problem by asking him to move closer and … I put four bright night lights in the bathroom, one right by the toilet. Problem solved, no more puddles in the middle of the night.

But these bathroom bills are all manufactured laws or rules for problems that don’t exist. Trans people have been using the bathrooms of their gender identification for centuries with no issues. It is only when the republican hard right thought they could use it for a wedge issue that they pushed it, trying hard to make a controversy where none existed before. In fighting these bills we often miss the fact that 10 years ago there was no problem with trans people using the bathroom of their choice. Why now? Because the republicans … the fundamentalist Christians lost the war on gay rights / acceptance and were trying hard not to lose it on trans people also. With tRump and his cult they won big time. Without tRump they would have lost. He is a cult leader who just can not accept reality is not what he demands it to be. His new term will be all about how he never lost in 2020. Hugs.
