I remember a day when, while driving home from work, I spotted a stork hanging out with the seagulls in a cow pasture in Western Washington.
I couldn’t believe it. I dug out a book on birds and looked him up and, sure enough, it was a stork.
Before I could figure out where to report this sighting (I am slow…) there was a news report about someone living around 80 miles north of us whose stork had escaped their conservatory. It mentioned reports of the bird being seen where I’d seen him.
I never found out whether they got him back.
