Scottie, right now whatever is hurting you is what matters. We aren’t going anywhere. Take your time, get the bad stuff out, taken care of, whatever, and don’t worry about us. No apologies necessary.

Hi Judy. Things went bad for Ron and I a bit over two months ago, different things cascaded together to make just doing daily tasks hard for us. Then we both got very ill. Our remodeling project went really wrong three times. Including the week of Thanksgiving needed major restarts. I am spending all my time and ability to keep things going while Ron tries hard to finish the bathrooms as best he can before the Dec 6th. That morning no matter what has gotten done he has to fly out to Texas to help his sister whose husband died suddenly. She has asked him to drive a rental moving truck back to our home as she wants to find a place here for a while. She will have to stay in our torn up home with partly working bathrooms. I thank you for caring, commenting, and coming to the blog. I am so grateful and joyful that Randy and Ali are posting and keeping it all going. Best wishes always for everyone and hugs for those that would like them. Hugs

Is Ron’s sister handy with plumbing? If she’s there, maybe she can help you out.
If she’s willing and able I wouldn’t turn her down. And if she isn’t, how’s her cooking? (giving her something to do might even help her, but no major decisions for at least a year.)
I kind of want to recommend she read some Marian Keyes as well, but what do I know, I don’t know anything about her. So take that one with a grain of salt.
I hope things are going much better for you now. Sometimes we hit streaks like that, where everything goes awry, so I’m really hoping for you guys that it’s a relatively short streak.

Hi MDavis. Great ideas. She doesn’t do plumbing but is grand with financial stuff. One reason she is doing very OK in this economy. She is a petite 75 year old woman and she and Ron are very close. They worked hard the last 7 years to keep their older brother comfortable in a nursing home the last years of his life. Ron goes up to NH to help her get her second small home opened / closed and repairs made. She started paying for those trips when she realized how badly we were struggling so I don’t mind but … This year as we were trying hard to rebuild two destroyed bathrooms among other things, he went to NH four times and now to Texas. I realize she is badly hurt losing her husband and trying hard to deal, so I must find sympathy. But her coming now with parts of two bathrooms not working so that we will all have to share the bedroom one and the hallway one for different functions. There simply is no place except the couch for her to sleep as all other rooms are filled with construction stuff and the spare room is my office. The couch is in the combined kitchen living room dining area on TV trays and entryway to my office. So if I get up she will wake up, if I try to make coffee she will be disturbed. But it will work out. Even though I never had family or those who cared about me growing up, Ron is the youngest at 70 of 8 siblings and a close knit family. It is rather nice to see. We will deal. Oh and does she cook, yes but … she is a healthy eater person. Not so much us. Hugs
