Gym Jordan, who helped cover up the sexual assaults of his fellow wrestling coach, has plenty to hide.

Hillary Clinton testified for ELEVEN HOURS and never took the Fifth Amendment or refused to answer any questions because she really did have “nothing to hide.” At the end of her ordeal, the committee chair, Republican Trey Gowdy, a trained prosecutor, apparently unaware that the mic was still hot, confessed that “we got nothing.” He soon resigned his committee chairmanship and then resigned from the congress entirely and has essentially never been heard from again.

All the Republicans who waged years of witch hunts against Hillary, never once getting anything, are now taking the Fifth (probably drinking a few fifths, too), refusing to testify and doing everything possible to avoid questions that they know will prove how directly they were involved in election lies, election fraud and an armed violent attempted overthrow of the United States Capitol.

From Raw Story:

“To answer Jim Jordan, I would quote Jim Jordan from the views that he expressed in the final Benghazi report, where he said that all of the truth must come out,” said Raskin. “Everybody needs to testify, and nobody’s got the right to hide anything from Congress. So, I think he had it right then. Jim Jordan, more than anybody else, knows what dogged, aggressive investigation is about, even when he’s on a wild goose chase, he demands all the information he wants, and we’re not on that. We are on the central investigative mission certainly of this decade, if not this century, to get to the bottom of this terrible political crime that was incited and to a substantial extent organized by Donald Trump.”

Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine announced today that CORBEVAX™, a protein sub-unit COVID-19 Vaccine, whose technology was created and engineered at its Center for Vaccine Development (CVD), has received Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) approval from the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) to launch in India with other underserved countries to follow.

Dubbed “The World’s COVID-19 Vaccine”, it uses a traditional recombinant protein-based technology that will enable its production at large scales making it widely accessible to inoculate the global population. The initial construct and production process of the vaccine antigen was developed at Texas Children’s Hospital CVD, led by co-directors Drs. Maria Elena Bottazzi and Peter Hotez and in-licensed from BCM Ventures, Baylor College of Medicine’s integrated commercialization team, to Hyderabad-based vaccine and pharmaceutical company Biological E. Misleading right wing media cartoons / memes

I have debunked this right wing talking point before.   Crime is up currently in cities run by both the right and the left, but the misleading right wing media is making it out to be a lot worse than it is and they leave out it is happening in cities run by the Republicans.   The right wing uses talking points instead of facts.   The crime we have now is less than we had just less than a decade ago.   What the right is trying to do is scare the voters into voting for Republicans saying they will be harmed if they don’t and only Republicans can save them.  It is a talking point they have used for as long as I can remember.   They claim the Democrats are soft on crime and weak on the military.   Both are incorrect.     Scottie

Rivers is a die hard far right cartoonist.   He doesn’t even see the hypocrisy of showing people that sacrificed and gave what they could for a public good he is then comparing to people who won’t even wear a mask to prevent a virus from spreading because it inconveniences them.   Really the other suffered for the good of the country with extra work, rationed foods and fuel, not buying stuff to save it for the war effort and yet the people Rivers is championing won’t wear a mask because it seems to harm a mythical freedom they have the rest of us don’t.   Scottie

Covered this one before.   The CDC guidelines take into account the reality that the US doesn’t have the testing kits we need to do proper testing.  The CDC guidelines are easy to understand if you wish to do so.  If you listened to the misleading right wing the guidelines are written in a now dead language by space monkeys.   It is a case of saying what you wish ere true instead of reporting the reality.   Scottie

The US undervalues teachers and uses them as childcare baby sisters to park kids somewhere so the parents can go to work to make profit for the upper incomes.   The New Mayor of NY even said it, he needs kids in schools so the parents can work when he was talking about wanting to stop testing for Covid.   DeathSantis threatened teachers, schools, and districts if they dared to require masks or vaccines and worse if they tried to do remote learning.  Deathsantis has made it clear he is denying Covid is in Florida because it is hurting the tourism trade and the profits wont flow if we admit the truth.   Better to infect everyone they say and get it over with.   Problem is it is not over with then.   There is so far no herd immunity with the coronavirus which is shown as you can get it a second and even third time.   Teachers are humans, people with families and they want to not get Covid also.   They have the same right to protect themselves as everyone else.   The fact that they stop the states from getting tax money and the upper class incomes from profit is the states problem.  Pay for more teachers to spread the students out, enforce mask and vaccine requirements, and do remote learning when needed.  But the states don’t want to spend more money on kids or teachers / schools, better to let them all die on their own dime the states feel.  Scottie

One side, the Democrats are fighting for the people and the public good.   The other side, the  Republicans are fighting against the public good and for the wealthy / large corporations.  It is very misleading of the media that tries to make this both sides are doing it.   That is incorrect, each side is fighting for very different ideas and groups of people.  Scottie

Bob Gorrell for Jan 11, 2022

Mail in ballots have been shown to be safe and secure way for people to vote. Several states use only mail in ballots with little problems and no fraud. Drop boxes are simply convenient for people who are busy especially with the slowed down mail system. Again no evidence of any fraud. The only large scale ballot harvesting fraud was in North Carolina where a Republican operative took a bunch of ballots to mark them for the Republican candidate. He got caught. The point is small scale fraud happens and the people get caught. Like the four people so far from the Villages in Florida who voted more than once for tRump. Ballot gathering or bunching is simply a convenience to help people who can not get out and post their ballot themselves. It is a service not a crime. What the right doesn’t like about the voting rights bill is it helps people who have a right to vote to vote. The right doesn’t want all eligible voters to vote because they will lose. But that is democracy, they need to change their message to appeal to more people. They do not seem to want a democracy, but instead to allow only the people who vote for them to vote.

The allowing non-citizens to vote in local communities where they have lived for many years makes sense. It gives people who live there a say in their community. Studies have shown that when people are part of the community they work for the well being of that community. This is not federal elections, not even state office holders, it is simply local community issues. No big deal and no down side. Scottie

A.F. Branco for Jan 11, 2022

Equating the ending of a 20 year war and the removing of US troops along with mostly peaceful protests against police abuse / murder of unarmed people to violent attacks against the country with thousands of deaths or the attack on the capital to stop a legislative action is despicable. The ones mentioned by VP Harris were attacks against the US sovereignty. That is a huge difference from the others added despite the right wing media hype over them. Scottie

Scottie’s World Today

holding on to anger

I almost did not do the roundup today.   I got up at 4:30 AM to get ready for my first in the morning doctors appointment.   I got multiple shots into my spine.  They give a numbing shot to the area, then quickly follow it up with the insertion of a catheter, and then come back and inject the substance into the vertebrae .   My vertebrae are misshapen and destroyed.   They grow in ways that catch or pinch my nerves.  Some times they stretch the nerves and others they smash / pinch them.  Each produces different sensations and pain levels.  At one injection the pain was so bad that I nearly passed out.   The doctor told me he had to inject the stuff right above the nerve causing it to have a lot of pressure so the signal it sent to the brain was intense to say the least.

I got home and Ron fed me a wonderful baked pasta dish he made and I went right to bed.  Then hours later I got up and started the Roundup.   I love it so much I really want to do it.   But I have to do a bunch of legal paperwork in the next few days to get a bunch of stuff done so the roundup may be late or just skipped.   Best wishes to everyone.    Scottie

School choice is a dog whistle, it is code for what the right really wants.    Segregated schools paid for by the tax payer.   They basically want schools that teach / preach their views paid for by the public.   That was what most charter schools were, a disguised attempt to get around the public curriculum but being paid for by the public.   Religious people want to be able to send their kids to private schools paid for by the taxpayer so kids can be indoctrinated into science denying bigots, the white supremacist want white only schools so their kids don’t have to mix with the non-whites they are taught to look down on, and the wealthy want you the public to pay for expensive great schools their kids get to attend so they wont have to associate with the general population they see as be low them.   Scottie

Michael Ramirez Comic Strip for January 10, 2022

Of course Republicans would prefer to quietly strangle your right to vote like a python than publicly tread on the topic.   In the reality-reversed alternative universe Ramirez is writing from, he thinks allowing more people to vote more easily with equal access for all voters and all votes being counted with equal weight is treading on freedom?  What Michael Ramirez wants to see is an election system in which white suburban and rural voters can get in and out of a convenient, nearby polling place in five minutes, while those in minority areas see most polling places closed until they have to drive very far and then wait in line for six or seven hours (with a prohibition on providing them with food or water) in order to vote, with the proviso that if the state legislature doesn’t like the outcome, it can throw out the results and install its own outcome.

Ramirez wants to return to the original voting standard as envisioned by the original founders: white male landowners are the only ones allowed to vote. He seems oblivious to the fact (or just doesn’t care about facts) that we have had twenty-seven amendments since then, each written by a new set of founders, that have equal weight to the original Constitution and which include many expansions of the right to vote to include all adult citizens age eighteen or over regardless of race, ethnicity, previous condition of servitude, gender and without undue burdens imposed.

Michael Ramirez demonstrates what Senator Raphael Warnock meant when he said, “Some people don’t want some people to vote.”     Scottie

The CDC is an organization made up of skilled people with expertise / education to protect the people of the US for the viruses and diseases that threaten the public. That is their jobs and they do it well. They give the White House their best advice and suggestions. As we seen in the last administration the White House can ignore their advice if the president wishes to do so. Scottie

Steve Kelley Comic Strip for January 09, 2022

Pearl Harbor and 9/11 took more American lives than the January 6 attempted coup so, in that sense, were greater tragedies.

But Pearl Harbor and 9/11 were attacks by FOREIGN agents.

January 6 was an act of treason perpetrated by a sitting president to obstruct the peaceful transfer of power after HE LOST AN ELECTION BY MORE THAN SEVEN MILLION VOTES.

January 6 was an act of terroristic treason COMMITTED BY AMERICANS, not foreigners.

January 6 was the first time the U.S. CAPITOL had been taken over by hostile forces since the War of 1812. Not even during the Civil War did the Capitol get taken over; the KKKonfederate flag was never raised inside the U.S. Capitol until January 6.

January 6 was the first time ever that the Constitutional electoral role of certifying a presidential election was disrupted by force.

After Pearl Harbor and 9/11, you didn’t have 30-40% of the population SUPPORTING THE FOREIGN ATTACKERS.

Comparing January 6 and Pearl Harbor or 9/11 is like comparing an orange with a bushel of apples. Pearl Harbor and 9/11 were FOREIGN attacks that caused more loss of life but united our country. January 6 caused fewer deaths but further divided our country.

ANYONE WHO SUPPORTS, MINIMIZES OR RATIONALIZES THE TRAITOROUS, TERRORISTIC ATTEMPTED COUP is a traitor.

The U.S. Constitution provides two possible definitions of treason: either giving aid or comfort to the enemy (with enemy defined in legal decisions to mean as an adversarial combatant in a declared war), which clearly does not apply, or being in open rebellion against the United States government, which applied for those who waged violent rebellion against the United States during the Civil War and reasonably applies to what happened on January 6.

A violent, armed insurrection against the United States Capitol for the purpose of stopping the congress from completing a CONSTITUTIONALLY-MANDATED PRO-FORMA DUTY in order to OVERTHROW A LAWFUL ELECTION is clearly an act of open rebellion against the United States.

Much evidence has already been made public and much evidence will be revealed in the days to come as more serious charges are filed.

And we all watched on television as an ARMED MOB of Trump insurrectionists, in response to directions from the president in a carefully-planned military maneuver including printed T-shirts equating themselves to July 4, 1776, invaded the U.S. Capitol and forcibly disrupted a CONSTITUTIONALLY-MANDATED pro-forma session to complete a federal election. They came armed, including weapons of various sorts (including some firearms, we now know), and including zip ties, wall climbing equipment, wearing bulletproof vests, and many other indications of a well-planned insurrection.

Whether or not the Justice Department decides to file charges of treason, the actions that have been charged and proved so far, with more to come, clearly rise to the Constitutional definition.

All those who defend, rationalize, minimize or excuse these acts of violent rebellion against the United States are complicit after the fact in the treason.

Normally I would put this anti-CDC stuff in the misleading right wing media section, but the recent guidelines that changed several times a day for several days due to lack of tests for the Coronavirus variants and people needing to work to survive.   So this time he has a point.  While the recommendations have changed rapidly recently the CDC has to take into account reality when they issue their guidelines. Their job is to recommend the best public health measures to take to best protect the people from a public health threat. The reality is the US doesn’t currently have enough tests for people to test and quarantine then test again until they are negative for Coronavirus as they were doing, and people also need to work to survive in the US so have to be able to go back to work with out a negative test. While the CDC guidelines are not the optimum they are the best considering the circumstances. Scottie

As January 6th was an attempt to stop the peaceful transfer of power, an attempted coup, an insurrection designed to deny the will of the people who voted to elect Biden president in a fair and valid election, yes it was much worse. “The general public and the politicians who serve them, like me, tend to reflexively support punitive sentencing measures that often fail to promote public safety and result in needless deprivation of freedom, burdensome taxpayer cost and unimaginable racial and regional disparities,” Mariani said.   Supporters of the change contend it would help promote rehabilitation and save taxpayer money by freeing up prison space.

DFL Gov. Tim Walz shared some thoughts on the proposal earlier this week, saying he thinks the commission will make sure the most violent criminals remain locked up.

“Trying to tell Minnesotans that this is somehow going to make them less safe is simply not true,” Walz said. “The sentencing commission is made up of a vast swath of expertise. So, I would expect them to make the right decision on that, to be smart about what it takes for Minnesota to keep Minnesotans safe.“    Scottie

Might as well remote learn. Can only hope all the kids have the means to connect to the remote learning websites.  Scottie

Al Goodwyn Editorial Cartoons Comic Strip for January 08, 2022

So incorrect, it is an out right lie that the misleading right wing media gets away with because they know their followers don’t check. How many Americans could find Kazakhstan on a map? I’m putting the over/under at 2%.

NEWS FLASH – The government of Kazakhstan has not “resigned!!” As a matter of fact, Kazak police and armed forces have been joined by Vladdy’s troops with orders to shoot – without warning!! As usual BADwyn gets his “facts” WRONG!!!   I’m thinking Al is upset that Trump didn’t have Russia invade the USA to keep Trump in power.

Prices are determined on supply and demand….

U.S. gas price, December 2012: $3.310 / gallon.

U.S. gas price, December 2021: $3.307 / gallon.

Gas prices declined long term during Obama’s second term, but trended upward under Trump, who intervened in the market to protect his supporters (Texas and Russian oil companies). This trend was reinforced by the Biden economic recovery. Apparently Goodwin would prefer to throw 15-20 million Americans out of work than return to the normal gas prices of a decade ago. Because, you know, Biden must be blamed.   Scottie

Funny story.    Mr. I am so important I don’t have to follow the vaccine rules above was given an OK by the event organizers to attend with out being vaccinated which was required by all other participants.   How ever when he got to Australia the country said nope.   No vaccine you quarantine as they have a strict vaccine to enter policy.   They wouldn’t bend it for Mr. thinks he is more important than the rules.   Last I knew he had been ordered to leave, but this morning I read he is bitching about the conditions at his quarantine quarters.   Still I like the comeuppance.     Scottie

Such woke, which is a right wing word for being sensible, to not use state resources to ruin the lives of the poor and POC.   Things that are crimes because of history and tradition like cannabis criminal laws used to arrest and destroy the lives of mostly black people.   The DA’s are simply not prosecuting the breaking of laws on the books for what is legal in more and more places.  Think of the laws still on the books in many right wing states like anti-sodomy laws that even though they could apply to both opposite gender sex and same gender sex was used to target gay people.   Those laws are still on the books despite being unenforceable so DA’s wouldn’t prosecute anyone for breaking them.   This is what the right is so angry about and trying to use to get their cut members enraged.  Scottie

This is what the right wing is so enraged over.   I wonder if it is because less black people will be put in jail for things white people are mostly not arrested for?    Racism?   Scottie

Yes because inflation and Covid are just a problem in the US.   Really the pandemic is just in the US.   The right wing seems unable to understand the US is not the entire world, that the US is just another country among many.    In case these people don’t get it, Biden doesn’t control the entire world and even in the US he is not a dictator, like tRump tried to be.   Scottie

So, I guess it’s not okay for teachers to want to work in a situation where they’re unlikely to bring Covid-19 home to their families?   Teachers are people also and they have the same needs as everyone else, despite the constant attempts to belittle them.   Far too many people including those in government do not see teachers as educators but as child sitters so workers can park their kids with them so they can work to make profit for the businesses and wealthy.  Scottie

I saw a meme today pointing out that kids have been displaced… during a war… in the winter… and had to move to a foreign nation… with a new language to learn… and missed two YEARS of any kind of school at all.   And come out just fine.

However, it’s not impossible to learn remotely. It’s done all over the world in places where it’s impractical to have school (the Australian Outback, for instance). Stanford University runs a very well respected online high school. Many working people take online classes for college degrees. It’s a question of training, expectations and attitude.  Maybe we need to rethink what school is for.  Scottie

Viral Social Media Story of Attempted Child Luring Turns Out To Be Nothing

Viral Social Media Story of Attempted Child Luring Turns Out To Be Nothing

“You could hear they were trying not to laugh.”

|

“Child luring incident!” read the warning that appeared last Friday on several Teaneck, New Jersey, social media pages.

“A man in a car pulled up and tried to get a child in around 11 am on 12/31/21,” it said. “You can clearly hear the child say, ‘I do not accept rides from strangers,’ and ‘no’ several times before walking away. Then the driver laughed and said, ‘I will follow you then’. Teaneck police have already been informed and are looking for any information on identifying the child, so please reach out to Teaneck police asap with any information.”

The post was accompanied by footage from a Ring camera, the popular security cameras watching over much of suburban America. It showed a boy walking down a quiet street when a car slows down and someone talks to him.

If you listen very closely—more closely than you would have to listen to hear a worm breathe—perhaps you can make out the boy defying the driver. (“Clearly hear the child” seems to overstate it.) Then someone in the car adds, “We have candy!”

“I said, ‘Don’t put it on the site! I bet you a dollar it’s nothing,'” recalls Keith Kaplan, a Teaneck town councilman who runs the Teaneck Today website in an unofficial capacity. But another one of the site’s administrators, his friend, Deputy Mayor Mark J. Schwartz, pressed publish—and the news went viral.

“Then it was on, like, 10 different Facebook groups within ten minutes,” says Kaplan.

The police got right on it.

But it took a few days for Debra Passner to notice it—and gasp.

“Oh my God, oh my God!” she recalls telling her husband. “Because there was a video of our car and our son!”

The Passners had been at a family celebration with their 14-year-old, who wanted to leave early (as 14-year-olds often do). He started walking home, with his parents’ blessing. Later, when they were driving home themselves, they saw him on the street and slowed down to offer him a ride.

“My son, being a wiseass, says, ‘I don’t take rides from strangers,'” Debra Passner recalls. So she leaned over and called out, “Don’t you like candy? We have candy!”

When their son shook his head, his father said, “Okay, then I’ll follow you.” But moments later, they drove on.

Once the Passners saw this online, they immediately called the police. “You could hear they were trying not to laugh,” says Debra Passner. The Passners also posted under the video that this was their child, and no one should worry.

The police paid a visit, were satisfied with the Passners’ story, and issued a press release stating: “Detectives identified the child and the suspects in the vehicle and determined that the child and the individuals in the vehicle were family members and no attempted luring had occurred.”

This got shared online as well. “But then of course there’s all the better-safe-than-sorry comments,” says Kaplan, who recalled two similar times his town erupted in fear, only to learn nothing nefarious was going on.

Once was when some men in a van spoke to a child. They were out of town painters who couldn’t find an address. Another time a woman gave a child a note. Kaplan can’t recall the details, but it too was nothing.

Why was he so sure that this incident would turn out to be something mundane?

“Because experience tells me it’s not the best use of people’s time to go up and down streets with people standing on them if you want to find children to abduct,” he says. “If it were, I would likely have offloaded one or two of mine.”

FL Surgeon General Tells Fox Viewers It’s “Unrealistic” To Expect To Stop The Pandemic With Vaccines

“The vaccine passports, you know, this requirement to get tested to go to school or to get on a plane. I mean, it’s just ridiculous.

“This idea that, you know, that you could stop this with vaccines was unrealistic, but the policies are based on the idea that you can stop this with vaccines and mass testing and things like that.

“So, there’s a mismatch between the policies and reality. And, you know, more people need to wake up to that, I think, and stop participating in this really dystopian view of public health.” – Joseph Ladapo, last night on Fox News.

It depends on the environment and the emphasis put on the remote learning.   Kids today spends hours online and can recite the minutia of every game they play, every tick tok they see, every music video, movie, and so on.    They do learn online.   It is just they are learning what they want.  School work has to be given that priority and made to keep their interests, just like in schools.  If kids are in an environment where they are not comfortable or have connection issues or they are just allowed not to view the lessons then they wont learn.  Scottie

The filibuster rule has been modified many times over the years. In fact, the Senate started out with no filibuster rule at all.   Moscow Mitch stole the goal post to pack the courts with unqualified judges and Supreme Court Justices.  McConnell had no problem changing the rules so he could stack the judiciary. They had no problem changing the rules to raise the debt ceiling. Now, our democracy hangs on the vanity of one (expletive) Democratic senator. Meanwhile, where’s the line between being a “conservative” cartoonist and a supporter of those who would destroy our democracy and Putinize America?  There’s a term for a professional whose services are enjoyed by criminals and traitors.  Scottie

Mike Lester Comic Strip for January 05, 2022

Most experts are expecting this wave of Covid cases to crest and recede in weeks (as opposed to months like other variants) and that cases will start dropping again within this coming February or so. Also, most of these cases thus far are either mild or asymptomatic (particularly if the patients are fully vaxxed) and the ones who are seriously ill from Covid aren’t vaxxed. Yes, that’s cold comfort to those who are pulling back because of the rise in cases. But this too shall pass. Hopefully, by mid-2022 or so, we can largely move on and then turn our attention to the midterms. I am hopeful that the Democrats can bounce back (if there’s a major turnaround in the case situation) and they can widen their majorities in both houses. History, though, is on the side of the party currently not in the White House gaining seats in both houses in midterms (the last time was 2002). But, even if that happens, the GOP could end up playing the foil to Biden the way earlier GOP majorities played the foil to Clinton and Obama. Both Clinton and Obama saw their parties lose control of the House and Senate in 1994 and 2010. But that didn’t stop either President from winning reelection in 1996 and 2012.  Scottie

Please note that in the preamble to the constitution the reasons given to create the new country / constitution. One of those is to promote the public welfare. To take care of the people. That includes the health of the people. The government has the responsibility to create polices and rules that help people live together in a communal society. That is why we have things like traffic rules / laws for example. For society to work there has to be rules, not everyone can do what ever they like regardless of how it effects others. Scottie

Misleading right wing media cartoons / memes

This is pure made up misinformation.    This is the same party that blamed Biden for not getting more Afghans out when we left.  The border is secure, the US is not being over run by brown people.   The brown people are already here and they are collectively the majority of the country or will soon be.   It is normal and OK.   This country has whole towns dying because the people are moving away, but now this is the perfect time to reinvigorate these towns with new people.   With work from home and other measures jobs can return.   Kids will be stay instead of moving away.   People this large country is not full.   Scottie

Same response as the cartoon below.  Scottie

Don’t you love right wing misinformation propagandist like Rivers?   The Republicans are the ones who tried to scramble our Democracy on Jan 6th.   The Republicans did the insurrection, the riot at the capital on Jan 6th.   They did not succeed in getting their way and keeping power, this time.    So they implemented more destruction to democracy by enacting voter restrictions and gerrymandering to keep the other party voters from using their right to vote.  How anyone even the right can see the above cartoon and not realize how backwards it is confounds me.   Scottie

Same response as below.  Scottie

Oh the fickle right.    Remember when they did not want testing.   In Florida they still don’t.  They don’t want anyone to know we have Coronavirus in Florida, so they can get those tourist to come here.    They want cruise ships to stop testing and just go with sick people.   Florida and those places with Republican governors want the system back to the way it was before Covid so the money flows for them.   The wealthy donors are not getting as much profit and they want that.   The Governors shut off unemployment to force poor workers to return to virus infected work places at the same time they passed laws giving companies immunity if a worker catch Covid working for them.   The point is our lives and the money we would have to pay if hospitalized do not matter to the wealthy Republicans.   To the Republican leaders like DeathSantis you are nothing but a clog, a gear to be used and when ground down too much then thrown away.   Life doesn’t have to be this way.   The people should expect more.

But to the tests and why we are having a shortage I already addressed this.   People attended gatherings during the last two holidays.   A lot of tests were used at the parties and even a lot more after as people tried to figure out if they were safe at these parties and after.   Many found out they were positive when tested requiring more testing.   The businesses that want to open at full capacity need tests to do so.   They are buying a lot of the supply.   Because the suppliers were not prepared for a huge increase it will take them a while to catch up but in the meanwhile they are loving the increased profit.   Think of the toilet paper shortage, it was not that toilet paper was not being made, it was that people suddenly started hording car / truck loads of it.   Some then tried to price gouge selling it.   But Biden never gave a time frame for the tests, only that the government would pay for them and send them out.   It is a gimmick anyway, one test is not helpful.  Scottie

Complete bullshit and lies.   Flat out lies.   This is again the right wing attempt to deny reality and try to force the world / the US back to the way it use to be.   Give it up, this is the normal now and should be.   They really give their viewers deadly misinformation.   Scottie

Michael Ramirez Comic Strip for January 05, 2022

The state of education in this country is past ridiculous.  Maybe it would help if administrators listened to the teachers and understood they were concerned about returning to a job where there is little protection for the teacher, and by proxy, the teacher’s family and loved ones.   Once again, blame the union for trying to provide living wages and benefits for workers instead of the employers who use and abuse the employees. I’ve known teachers, and more and more of them are leaving the profession because the pay is low, the children do not get engaged, parents are hostile, and they need to teach to Bush the lesser’s no child left behind program, which enriches the pockets of giant test companies.  Two of ours are our healthcare and school systems. Before the pandemic there were stories of teachers living in their cars because they were renting their apartment / house so they could make enough money to eat! Once the pandemic hit it got worse. Many schools are now limping along with numbers of teachers, security, food workers, custodians on health leave while they recover from COVID. And there are no substitutes for any of these people. Teachers in some districts are asking that their schools return to remote learning until the “viral tsunami” passes and quarantined staff return. In many places if their needs are not met they will quit. And then who will work in schools?

Whether or not they “like” teachers, they certainly vote for people who enact laws designed to destroy public education for profit.   The path they want to tread is exactly the same path they forced the public hospital system down in the 70’s. I think we all know how that turned out.  This is exactly the same. Privatize the schools to keep from raising property taxes is EXACTLY THE SAME TACTIC as privatize the hospitals to keep your county taxes low.   We’ll wind up spending ten times as much for less. That’s where this road ends.   Some of us are old enough to remember public hospitals in remote counties.   And we even remember the tactics undertaken to ensure they’d be “unprofitable”.

Tom Stiglich for Jan 05, 2022

When she was shot Babbitt was on video crawling through a window she had just helped break out to gain access to a hallway they were not allowed into that had members of congress in it.   The right wants to make her a hero and has much in the way they made Rittenhouse a hero.   Facts don’t matter to them.   Babbitt was judged by the left on what she was doing, and she was an imminent threat of death or serious body injury to the congresspeople.  Floyd was not committing a crime at the time he was killed, he was not a threat to anyone at the time he was murdered and what he was being detained for was not a death penalty offense which cops don’t have the authority to carry out.  The cases are not equal in any manner.   The funny thing it is the right that insists on judging everyone on their past, just like they did the people killed by their new hero Rittenhouse who had no way to know the past of those he killed.   Scottie

Al Goodwyn Editorial Cartoons Comic Strip for January 05, 2022

If I thought for a moment that Ol’ Al was actually interested in resolving the conundrum of how to do best for kids while in the midst of a pandemic, I’d almost like this cartoon. Except for the idiocy of “allowed” a gender identity. Believe me or not, kids know their gender within months of becoming aware of themselves as being part of the family “pack”. They may not… probably won’t… be verbal about it, and they may very well play dress up to see how it works for them; the canonical example being the kid in a tutu and cowboy boots. Well. Anyway, I’m sure that Al isn’t at all interested in that. He’s on a mission to make liberals seem as stupid and wrongheaded as possible, in every way possible, always.   Too bad it only works on people who are already  convinced of that.   Scottie

Homophobic “Hate Preacher” Matt Powell Thinks Dinosaurs Prove Creationism.

Matt Powell first came to my attention when he was in his first year of bible college after being home schooled and was adamantly and loudly preaching that atheists were only people that stayed home on their mother’s couch playing video games.   He took this fame online to atheist blogs where he stated firmly with no exceptions that the government needed to kill gay people.  All those gays needed to be put to death because that was what god said.   He spent a year trying to defend that stance, claiming it was not hate or bigotry and he himself did not want to kill the gays just that the government had to do it because the bible said so.   Well then Matt got himself a full head of steam and them attacked others of his own circle he felt were not godly enough.   Then he decided he had to give tutorials on why evolution was wrong even though he has no educational back ground to even understand the concept.   But he has given lots of YouTube creators tons of material with his assertions like the one where he claimed a picture of a Pterodactyl with confederate civil war soldiers was proof that dinosaurs lived with man and that the earth was young.   Yes I would have thought at this point he was putting people on and mocking them, but nope, young Matt was a true believer.   When he started out and was so anti-gay many thought he was gay himself, to disprove that he got himself a woman and they started right away to having babies.   But I guess things were not working out so Matt almost right out of school moved himself to Kent Hovind’s compound to take over old Kents delusions online.   Matt looks pretty worn in his latest videos.     The Creaky Blinder is a YouTuber from Wales who started out debunking flat earthers.   He has branched out and, in this video, he again takes on Matt Powell.   I enjoy Creaky’s humor and funny delivery.   He is a joy to watch as his goal really is to give humor to the debunking.    He has a lot of funny videos so look over his work to see if a subject interest you.   I have been following him from when he started with just a web cam to now when he has a really impressive set up.   Let me know what you think.   Scottie
