Odie got his butt washed. See he has gotten so fat and lazy that he would hold his body up out of the cat litter to pee and poop. He just lays there and lets it come out and the stuff run all over him. We use a littler that minimizes the effect but he still eventually builds up a horrible mess.
I keep a towel on my desk for him to lay on, and his greatest happy reward for being good and not doing things like pooping on the floor to mark territory earns him desk time. But when his butt gets too dirty I simply can not have him up here. It goes from the base of his tail all the way around to his belly.
So we have to wash him, his back side and belly. He hates it. He acts as though we are killing him. Admittedly until we found the right litter it often involved having to pull some of his hair or even cut the clumps off. But he never gets hurt. I have to hold him as he wont bite or scratch me. I will strike back. Ron wont. So our cats will scratch and bite him if they want, but none will do that to me. So I have to hold this 40 pound strong monster who is crying out, pushing and trying to escape next to the sink while Ron washes his butt. Oh how aggrieved he acts during it while I make sure I am not holding him too tight or hurting him.
As soon as I put him down he walks jauntily with wagging tail to his treaty plate on the floor of my Pink Palace and waits for his reward. Then he expects to be lifted up on my desk for desk time. Where he gets pets, combing, and a few more treaties. It is an act or game for him. It is a hard struggle for me and Ron. But we have learned the tricks he might pull.
Why do I put him with his wet butt on the towel on my desk. Because if I don’t do that for him he will go to one of the three, yes three littler boxes and set his wet ass / belly in the litter to get it coated well. Hugs. Scottie
