I can’t help but feel sad for the parents, but I also can’t help but ask … WHY would the man think an intruder was coming into his garage? Are family members barred from entering the garage? What did he have in the garage –or what was he doing– that would cause him concern if someone were to enter unannounced?

Hello Nan. 4:30 AM the security system beeps. If their system is like any I have had it beeps when a door is opened and if the system is armed, it will start a countdown of either 30 or 60 seconds ( whatever time it is set for ) to give time for the person to use a keypad to disarm the siren. Ron and I normally use our phones to arm and disarm the system. I bet the girl was out doing something she was not allowed to be doing, such as seeing a date, having a smoke, doing drugs … so she disarmed the system which would cause the main system to make an announcement and send a message to the phones. She opens the door and it beeps and the system will say what door was opened. The father grabs a gun and rushes in sure he is in great danger and knowing he is Chuck Noris movie level ready to defend his home. They all are. Or she could have done what she was doing, and came back into the house, opening the door again would announce it waking the father. The article don’t say if the alarm siren went off but if it did then he would have been more panicked, the girl would have panicked because she got caught. Either way a horrible situation that could have been avoided if there had been no gun in the home. I am sure the father thought he was a responsible law abiding gun owner, they all are until the mistake happens. Think how different the story would have been if he had a stun gun or a bat. Scottie

Lots of “possible” scenarios in your version … but I still think “something” is missing in this story.

Hello Nan. I agree. In my mind it starts with what was the girl doing in the garage at 4:30 AM? Have a great night. I want to go to bed but the … people here are doing personal fireworks like they are aphrodisiacs. Scottie
