TX. Gov. Greg Abbott DEMONIZES Trans Children

Texas’ conservative governor Greg Abbott has ordered state agencies to recognize gender-affirming care to transgender children as a form of child abuse. Abbott claims that the Department of Family and Protective Services is “responsible for protecting children from abuse” and that teachers, medical professionals/doctors, and parents who don’t report the ‘abuse’ may face legal consequences.
“Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has ordered state agencies to investigate reports of transgender kids receiving gender-affirming care as “child abuse,” but it’s unclear what immediate effect the directive will have on kids, teachers, doctors and parents. In a letter to the Department of Family and Protective Services sent Tuesday, Abbott said the agency “is responsible for protecting children from abuse.” He warned that educators, medical professionals and others who don’t report alleged abuse could face consequences. “Texas law imposes reporting requirements upon all licensed professionals who have direct contact with children who may be subject to such abuse, including doctors, nurses, and teachers, and provides criminal penalties for failure to report such child abuse,” Abbott said.”

  1. Scottie … just HOW is he “demonizing” children? He may be out of his league here but on the other hand, he said absolutely nothing that demonizes a trans child or any other child.

There are widespread reports of abuse (not dealing with this issue in an ethical manner) in Britain & I expect that this will continue here in the States & in Canada. Many young adults are now coming out, saying that they were never trans, but that the psychiatrist they were seeing pushed them into this therapy. Of course, most parents go along with this because they love their children & want to see them happy.

I fully believe that to talk to young children about gender is idiotic. They can’t understand the concept of a “social construct” which gender is.

The TRA’s are the reason all this gender-stupidity is going on. It goes along the lines of “born this way”, the gay mantra of the later twentieth century, when AIDS was in the news & most people thought that being gay or lesbian was a “choice” (& in some cases, especially for lesbians, it IS a choice). While the concept of “born this way” makes sense for sexual attraction, it makes no sense for trans-children. Most of them are just playing with toys they like & wearing clothes they want to wear. WHY do they have to be medicalized?

As much as I may think the TX governor is totally out of his league here, on the other hand, he did not DEMONIZE trans children. He may even save a few of them from taking meds for the rest of their lives, unable to have children themselves & unable to orgasm.

No orgasms! That’s cruel & unusual punishment in my book.

  2. Hello Polly. Let’s talk about the kids hearing these things reported and talked about. “… investigate reports of transgender kids receiving gender-affirming care as “child abuse,” and warned teachers they face consequences if they don’t report their non gender conforming students to the child abuse agency. Oh my god that is because they are so bad, wrong, evil, their parents are going to be investigated if they grow their hair too long or cut it too short, the student must act as a stereotypical gender role or their favorite teacher is in trouble. And so on. Even normal trying to be different now will be suspect by other kids with transphobic parents. LGBTQ+ kids were already made targets by the book bans and the attacks on gay affirming messages. Now we will make sure your family pays for your not conforming. That is the message the kids are getting. And like with the other bills targeting teachers and school, females and the LGB, it weaponizes the other kids and their families. Don’t like the couple next door report their kids is not conforming. In Florida where kids must be outed even if the threat of harm to the kid is well known, kids are terrified. I posted a video where one kid wrote in how to help his gay friend who was out at school but had really homophobic parents and was in real danger when this law is passed. These laws target the kids who are different to help the minority Republican base feel that they are the ones correct and all others must be made by intimidation and force to follow the rules the minority far right base creates. Normally traditional religious based rules the leaders don’t follow but tell the masses they must. That is how they demonize the kids.

You know I have been following several channels on this subject in Britain. There is a very rabid anti-trans groups there. They are feminist women. Lesbian feminist women. I know you hate the term, but it does apply as an apt description. That group is the same as our white supremacist racist, our anti-gay religious homophobes, and our right wing anti-immigration groups. They are really small minorities that gather far more attention and influence due to their tactics and their misinformation. Essence of Thought is a trans YouTuber who goes into deep investigations and essays of these groups and their members. She recently exposed Jill Bearup, Jeff Younger, and Rose Duffield’s anti-trans fear mongering. I would post her stuff but she is into the deep science and facts like I am and most people don’t wish for that much information on a subject. They want quick emotional feeds that support their cause but don’t want to understand why. I do. But I would suggest if you want the medical facts about trans issues you look her up on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/c/EssenceOfThought/videos

The talking point of many people now adults that are saying they are not trans and wishing they never changed anything is debunked. It was started by one person making a incorrect claim and then starting an entire network to promote detransitioning.

No one disputes that transition regret does exist and that there are trans people who return to the sex they were assigned at birth. However, trans advocates say some of the recent coverage around the topic portrays detransitioning as much more common than it actually is, fueling misconceptions about the gender transition process and painting trans people as just temporarily confused or suffering from a misdiagnosed psychological disorder. This misleading information, they say, can have serious real-world consequences, from misguided policy proposals to social stigma.

“I think the reason why detransition stories are popular in this given time is because it neatly fits into this idea that young people especially are being made to be trans,” Lui Asquith, a legal counselor for U.K.-based LGBTQ group Mermaids, told NBC News. “The media are conjuring up a panic about trans lives, and the first victims of that panic are the young people who are indirectly being told that they’re a phase.”

    How common is ‘transition regret’?
There are an estimated 1.4 million transgender adults in the U.S., according to the Williams Institute at the UCLA School of Law, and the U.K.’s Government Equalities Office “tentatively” estimates there are between 200,000 and 500,000 trans people in Britain and Northern Ireland.

While the information regarding how many trans people detransition is sparse, those who work with the trans community say it is uncommon. “The actual numbers around them are significantly low,” Asquith said.

“Are there risks to getting gender affirming care? Maybe. But are there risks for not getting gender affirming care? Definitely. And the risks of the latter usually outweigh the former.”

    DR. JACK TURBAN

The information that does exist appears to corroborate Asquith’s claim. In a 2015 survey of nearly 28,000 people conducted by the U.S.-based National Center for Transgender Equality, only 8 percent of respondents reported detransitioning, and 62 percent of those people said they only detransitioned temporarily. The most common reason for detransitioning, according to the survey, was pressure from a parent, while only 0.4 percent of respondents said they detransitioned after realizing transitioning wasn’t right for them.

The results of a 50-year survey published in 2010 of a cohort of 767 transgender people in Sweden found that about 2 percent of participants expressed regret after undergoing gender-affirming surgery.

The numbers are even lower for nonsurgical transition methods, like taking puberty blockers. According to a 2018 study of a cohort of transgender young adults at the largest gender-identity clinic in the Netherlands, 1.9 percent of adolescents who started puberty suppressants did not go on to pursue hormone therapy, typically the next step in the transition process.

Polly you keep saying that the born this way makes no sense for gender non-conforming kids. You say it does for same sex / attraction though. you see how you are not being consistent? The same doctors that say it is true for gays / lesbians also say it is true for gender. They are born with a body that doesn’t conform to what their mind says they are. I am sorry if you cannot accept or understand it, but you cannot just ignore the data and science because you do not agree with it. I said before most people that are the loudest on this issue are ones that are not trained, educated, or skilled enough to analyze the information / data. I am not. That is why I trust the majority of medical voices, and they support the pro trans positions.

I don’t want to be graphic, but you are incorrect about no orgasms. It depends on the extent of the medical transitioning and the procedures done. Many “bottom” surgeries do now give sensations that use the same nerves that cause sexual stimulation and orgasm. I watched a video on how they invert the penis to make a vagina / colitis / urinary tract that gives feel and function of a non-created one. Fantastic surgery. Want me to try to find it for you?
