Hello Polly. I took a lot of classes in different jobs I had for conflict resolution and how to keep situations from getting escalating or getting out of control. I don’t think in those classes they taught to let kids beat on each other. However I think this situation did get out of hand due to adult egos. Far too many adults have the idea that they are superior to young people and that young people especially young adults need to obey them without question. And teenagers in an emotional crisis just don’t act that way. Heck adults don’t want to act that way toward authority when they are angry or upset, so to expect teenagers to do so is stupid. But this idea of cops putting their knees on people’s necks must end. The neck is too fragile. I do not know when police got the permission to do that, I was never trained to do that. As we have seen it is far too easy to kill or permanently injure the person they are kneeling on.
