Too bad. Taking the life of George Floyd as he did, IMO, should have put him in prison for the rest of HIS life. But of course, he’s white …

Hello Nan. I agree but I think you are missing the point of this. He pleaded guilty which means he cannot appeal. So even if his conviction on killing Floyd is somehow overturned, this conviction stands. He will do this time in prison. Plus it is federal. That means he must do at least 85% of the sentence.
Yes it should have been life in prison. He killed a person and it looked like he enjoyed doing it. I agree. The point is he is a white cop and this is the first time one of them has been held to account for their murder of black people. It actually has opened the gates to other bad white cops being held to account. Some have still gotten off doing it and that pisses me off, but they are getting fewer and fewer. Think of what the prosecution and sentencing of Chauvin is doing to other cops around the US. I have already seen a lot more problem cops being fired, and more cops being referred for prosecution. Yes, it is a small amount of time, and much more is needed, but before white cops could just act with impunity against black people and sometimes against whites also. This is a great change in the idea that cops are above the law.
