Female Student Athletes in Florida Are Being Aske…

But Florida has already demonstrated that it doesn’t care about the privacy of students. In addition to essentially banning classroom discussions of LGBTQ+ content, HB 1557, also known as “Don’t Say Gay,”stripped students of the right to privacy with regards to their education and health records and the right to consent to school healthcare services. It also banned school districts from enacting policies that would prohibit school personnel from “notifying a parent about… student’s mental, emotional, or physical health or well-being.” That wording is vague, but it could be used to develop policies that compel school officials to out students to their parents, as the bill originally specified.
