“Vaccine equity campaigners on Friday condemned Pfizer for announcing that it will soon raise the price of its publicly funded Covid-19 shot to between $110 and $130 per dose in the U.S., a move that comes as the Biden administration is preparing to end the nation’s free coronavirus vaccine program as pandemic response funding runs dry.
Reuters reported late Thursday that Angela Lukin, an executive at Pfizer, said the New York-based pharmaceutical giant “expects” that the vaccine “will be made available at no cost to people who have private insurance or government-paid insurance.
” The outlet noted that Lukin did not say whether the company will make any accommodations for the tens of millions of people in the U.S. without any health insurance.”
So, it’s going to be all the, poor who will die, from contraction, because the vaccines will soon become, too, extravagant for them…

Hello taurusingemini. Yes again in the US people who are poor and don’t have insurance lose out on needed health care. The thing is the ones that will get screwed over money wise will be the workers with healthcare from their employer. They pay part of their insurance costs and they pay a co-pay, and with the costs of the vaccines going up their insurance costs will go up and they will have a higher co-pay for vaccines. But the real losers will be the people, society, as few people including the insured will get the vaccine and so Covid will spread, more people will get sick, more work spaces will have it, schools will be flooded with it, more people will die needlessly. All because of a drive for ever more profits and ignorance of how important vaccines are. Hugs

Of course they are, they were never “free” ~ the government has been paying a discounted (for volume) rate all along. Those that didn’t see this coming haven’t been paying attention.

Hello Ten Bears. The part that bothers me is the government paid for the development of these vaccines, so even at a discounted rate the Pfizer is still making a huge profit. It is almost all profit. They dd not even have to advertise it, the government did that for them. But it seems there is never enough profit for a company these days no matter how much it hurts the people or society. I keep thinking of Martin Shkreli who took a pill that cost less than a dollar to make that was making a large profit and was a needed life saver for those that needed to take it and the price soared. In September 2015, Shkreli was widely criticized when Turing obtained the manufacturing license for the antiparasitic drug Daraprim and raised its price by 5,455% (from US$13.50 to $750 per pill). Profit over the lives of those who needed that medication. Hugs
