Hello Jeff. My mind is a blaze with bussing pain and anger. I have read of attacks on gay and trans people increasing in the US due to the republicans these republican attacks on innocent LGBTQ+ people while reading 6 stories today about Marge Greene and her group supporting a guy who was well known for soliciting 15-year-old boys to dick pic’s and getting into bed with them at events to have oral sex. She knew, her group knew, and they were attacking trans people and teachers. Read Joe my god to see the Republican connected people including on linked to DeathSantis who just killed himself due to child sex charges.
Jeff it is overwhelming how the Republican Party right wing radicals making the LGBTQ+ targets including the don’t say gay and removal of all LGBTQ+ material from schools are so fucking seeped in what they are accusing others of. Yet because their MAGA base only reads / watches their media the base never knows this stuff. It is so frustrating. I am getting very close to not being nice anymore.
But I am sure you are old enough as I am to remember when drag was something funny and even embarrassing when the people next door tried to do it drunkenly at Halloween. Hugs

Love this post! Jeff’s right … the Republicans trying to demonize drag queen’s are hypocrites! What they don’t understand, don’t even try to understand, must be destroyed, in their view. These pictures brought back some great memories of fun programs … they don’t make ’em like that anymore!

Hello Jill. Agreed. Back then it seems humor was more self-directed and less hurtful. Maybe my memory is off but what people laughed at was either slap stick or slightly embarrassing / funny situations, but it was never meant to be mean or degrading. At some point people started to think humor was hurting / attacking others, and I don’t find that funny at all. When humor became making someone else cry, it stops being funny at least to me.
Everyone of the people trying to make drag sexual to fit their political agenda forget that drag was done in grade schools, middle schools, and high schools including the governor who signed a bill banning it, Governor Lee from Tenn.
A lot of people are trying to pretend that drag is now some kind of sex show which is not true. I have even been told it is burlesque, but again that is not true and even burlesque is not sexual in nature. A burlesque is a literary, dramatic or musical work intended to cause laughter by caricaturing the manner or spirit of serious works, or by ludicrous treatment of their subjects.
What is scary to me is how quickly a subject can be changed in the public mind just by a segment of the population repeating it with no facts or science behind their claims. Hugs

More and more, humans seem to be descending into cruelty, bigotry, hatred and violence. They talk about the big brains humans have, but frankly they use them more to DEstroy than to INvent. Hugs

In a recent post, our friend Scottie takes a look back at some of our favourite television shows of yore. Remember Flip Wilson as Geraldine? Or Jamie Farr who played Sergeant Maxwell Q. Klinger on MAS*H? We all laughed and enjoyed those shows, those characters. Yep, even Republicans who are now busily trying to criminalize drag queens and drag shows, without having the faintest inkling what they are even talking about! Back then, the word ‘grooming’ was what you did first thing in the morning when you brushed your teeth, washed your face, and combed your hair. Today, it means something else altogether, at least to certain bigots. Scottie’s post reminds us of a simpler time and proves the utter stupidity of those who would demonize people for simply providing us with entertainment. Thank you, Scottie!

Thirty years ago, l ran into a male friend of mine. Only, he was dressed up in drag, and a more beautiful woman I have never seen. I knew he dabbled in cross-dressing, but he never pushed it on anyone. He was a nice guy who hurt no one. When he first said, “Hi, Jerry!” behind me I knew the voice, and said “Hi!” back without looking. Then she sat down and my mind was blown. She laughed her head off, and asked me to escort her into a restaurant. I’ll, tell you, every guy, and every woman in the place was jealous as hell, and I played it up with her. One of the best evenings of my life. Next time I saw him he was dressed as his usual self, and he made like that night never happened. He just smiled, and ordered a beer.
