Why Can’t We Scoop All the Plastic Out of the Ocean?

Lots of people want to clean up the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, and plastics have a huge impact on ocean environments. But marine wildlife are already adapting to our plastic waste, which means cleaning it up isn’t as simple as just… cleaning it up.

    1. Hello Ali. Yes it can. But it is important we don’t give up. Seriously our species along with far more is at risk if we do. Watching the Majority Report on YouTube, they just showed a clip of young people interrupting a wealthy political gathering to demand the end to fossil fuels programs. One of the organizers tries to reason with them, telling them their rudeness is stopping them from having a place at the table. The young person asks him if he realizes the programs he is promoting will cause a lot of people to die, to which he replies, “I don’t care if you die”. While I like the message of the young people, I think they way they carried it out was wrong. Yes asking questions and demanding answers is good, but then they tried to argue and debate the answers from the politician. Then when they did not get their way, they disrupted the event, shouting and blocking any speaker. They got escorted out and lost the attention and good will of those they needed to impress to make the changes they want. While I admire their enthusiasm and their goal is worthy, they are not helping their cause with these actions. IMO Hugs
