I just still don’t understand what makes these people so damn nasty to other people. They’re supposed to be involved in life-saving (I know; pregnancy maintaining) work, yet they’re basically teaching kids in a fashion that will get them sick and won’t prevent pregnancy at all. Then they’ll tell them little throughout the pregnancy except hang in there. I don’t think the “crisis pregnancy centers” here in KS even give a woman a welcome home package, though the hospitals and county health departments do (formula samples, diaper samples, wipes, thermometers, important numbers, etc.) The CPCs here in KS get tax dollars, too. I’m not aware of any sort of school sex ed efforts, though I’m sure they’ve lobbied for that authority.
I used to be a literacy tutor before we had our son, when I just didn’t have time anymore. I remember visiting about our services with the local Birthline, an organization that is supposed to support young people when an unplanned pregnancy happens. They also offer no info about termination (or prevention,) but at least they try to get clients connected with doctors and the health dept. They give donated clothing and other goods. The questions I received were mostly along the lines of, why does Birthline need to know about the literacy org-what can we do for their clients? I had told them we specialize in applied literacy; many people can subsistence-read, but comprehension is low. Knowing this group is totally anti-choice, I emphasized helping with feeding instructions, medication instructions, and studying for exams in school. They gave the dirtiest looks about the feeding and medication instructions. I’d think that would be a primary concern! But, no. Ah, well, we reached out.

Hello Ali. It is about control while denying reality. Reality is that kids do not suddenly sexual activate the second of their 18th birthday. Kids feel pleasure, kids have attraction feelings, and kids need information on what their bodies are, what their bodies can do, what is for doing in private, and what others are allowed to do to them. Teach young people consent and body privacy.
These people just repeat do not do sex, which ignores their own childhoods, the pressure from their bodies, and the very world around them that is all about contact, touching, and yes the pleasure of sex. But why are these people so driven to force everyone to think and do what they do? What gives them the authority to be the moral police? Why their religion, their god, and their personal sense of entitlement to control others. They have a belief they are superior to everyone who doesn’t act like they do.
What they are doing is harmful. First the demand to return to a regressive negative sex tolerance strict gender role society of the 1950s. They want people who feel differently from the straight cis mode that they demand is the only correct one to have, they want those people who are different to feel shame, to hide who they are. Make the world a nice neat safe straight cis world, right? So they drive the kids to all kinds of depression and other ways to deal with being different and not accepted. They make those kids targets for bullying and harm. As for pregnant people who do not want to or shouldn’t carry a pregnancy to term, the harm is even more immediate and could be deadly as well. But again they get to rule others, they feel their god gives them that right. They have the rights and no one else does. For all the reasons I wrote about above. Hugs. Scottie+
