The thing I will never understand is why some people believe that ALL people should live by their standards/beliefs. We are NOT ROBOTS who can be “programmed” to think and act a certain way.

Hello Nan. I agree. Eurobrat and I have been talking about how some groups live a different religious lifestyle but do not try to force others to do so, like the Amish or Mennonites. The Amish even give their young adults a “vacation from the rules” to go and see which world they wish to live in. But fundamentalist religions simply can not give others a choice, because they know they would be the minority and not able to force their god on others. That is their goal, to force their god on everyone, to make everyone live in their religion, by their church doctrines. As you say, the question is why? I have to think for the church leaders it is about dominance and control. Notice their entire drive is the church is in charge, the church is run by the preacher, the preacher rules the men, the men rule the women, adults rule over kids … it is all a system of who has say over whom, who gets to control / order who around. For the guy at the top it is a great life of grift and power. And for the followers who are lower on the totem pole could it is about fear that god is angry at them if they don’t force everyone to be just like them. That god will not give them the big reward if they let others do the ungodly stuff?
I don’t know, I really have not thought about the why so much as the result, the what they are doing. The negative impact their actions are having on the rest of us who don’t want to be forced to live under their church doctrines. Hugs. Scottie
