Some old ones I won’t get to do long posts on.

Mighty Christian of this first one.  Good old republican Christian concern and caring.  Hugs.  Scottie

The bill’s author, state Sen. Jay Trumbull, previously appeared here for his successful bill allowing medical professionals to refuse to treat LGBTQ patients. Last year, he authored a bill allowing businesses to sue to block local LGBTQ rights ordinances and other regulations.
Of note, the lead attorney in the lawsuit is Roberta Kaplan, who is best known to most as E. Jean Carroll’s attorney. Kaplan was also Edith Windsor’s attorney in the landmark Supreme Court ruling on DOMA.

This is quite a story and as you’d expect a portion of their ideology centers against LGBTQ people.

OK with this first batch I am trying to reduce the 74 posts window I have open.  I have to start shrinking these windows.  That means I can not go deep in depth on each thing I think is important to share.  So for a few days I am going to shotgun a bunch of older stuff out.  Do I expect everyone to read all of them?   NO!  What I hope is people see story titles that interest them, open them, and follow the story which is what I do.  So expect a few more of these as I clear out old tabs.  Hugs.  Scottie

    1. Hi Suze. Yes I agree. The Florida republicans were so desperate to get DeathSantis as president that they gave him everything he wanted and ruined the state. Measles are running wild in schools, people died from covid who never needed to because he was anti-public health. Fundamentalists are running the schools, and maga people flocked to the state in droves. Hugs. Scottie

    1. Hi Tengrain. I think I lack discipline? 😀😁

But seriously I think it is because I am always finding more stories I want to share than I get to in a day, I love the comments and hate losing them, and so I just keep things open. A lot of times it builds up too much and I just have to let them go. Sometimes I open them in the other computer, then clean this one, then close them on the other computer and open them back up here. Hugs. Scottie

  1. Well, I have a tab open that I’ve been waiting to send to you; it’s been about 12 hours, lol. It’s a sort of a followup or addon to the one about bugs several days ago: https://cosmosmagazine.com/nature/animals/mystery-of-cicadas-jet-pee-solved-by-scientists-standing-under-a-tree/ .

I like Cosmos; their science seems sound, but they always throw in some quirky bits with the serious stuff. Enjoy at your leisure!

  2. It’s not only FL. KS is right on the tail, I read today (3/20):

    https://kansasreflector.com/2024/03/19/40-million-kansas-homeless-shelter-proposal-comes-with-catch-enforcing-bans-in-public-spaces/

    Snippet:

“TOPEKA — Kansas communities are on track to receive state money to create more shelter for people under a new proposal — but a built-in provision could mean these people are criminalized for living outside first. ”

Republicans are Republicans no matter where they are.

    1. Hi Ali. Seriously what is wrong with some people. No compassion, they don’t see homeless as people in trouble with needs, they simply see something they don’t like. States with high living costs don’t pay enough nor does the state government help enough to help the lower incomes. The fault for being homeless is not the poor but the state government. Instead of jailing homeless people, give them a place to live, give them medical care, give them ways to help themselves. Hugs. Scottie

      1. Yup, they have to be arrested and pay a penalty in order to get help to stay out of trouble. Now, how on earth does that help anyone? Plus it costs twice or more as much as just granting the money to help them.
