Are Abigail Shrier, Sean McDowell, Frank Turek, and gender critical people right to say Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria is real and that gender dysphoria is a social contagion? Why are there more transgender people today? I examine these ideas using current scientific research, and an informed perspective on the Lisa Littman study on rapid onset gender dysphoria.

  1. I grew up with a boy, let’s call him Randy, who NEVER once in his childhood felt “normal”. He was born male, but felt female. He became a teen and felt even MORE female and went to a counselor at school to talk about sexuality and gender. He got no assistance at home. I don’t know how the counselor reacted, but Randy was depressed for weeks afterwards. Randy committed suicide the day he graduated from HS. I am so glad that kids now at least have others to talk to about their sexuality and gender.

    1. Hi Suze. Thank you for sharing that story and for your support of the LGBTQ+ community. It angers me that the maga fundamentalists republicans want to remove any and all support for trans kids both in medical care and social acceptance. It is especially cruel to remove support, seeing themselves in media, removing anti-bullying programs, and outlawing even the using of preferred pronouns / names in schools, a place kids need support more than any other.
