Hi Suze. I love your comment. I did not know the difference. Now I do.
The keffiyeh originated amongst Bedouins as a practical and protective covering for the head and face, especially in the arid desert climate in which they have traditionally lived. The word is also derived from the Iraqi city of Kufa, where it is also believed that the headdress was first used in the 7th century.
What is a hijab and why is it worn?
The word khimar or “veil” refers to a piece of cloth that was popularly used to cover the head in ancient Arabia. While the term “hijab” was originally anything that was used to conceal, it became used to refer to concealing garments worn by women outside the house, specifically the headscarf or khimar.
Thank you for correcting the ignorance. But to address the outright ignorance and bigotry of the man who was so outraged by a headscarf. Why such anger when other religions are welcome to display their crosses, their skull caps, their turbans, and there are far more allowed. Yet this man felt it OK to attack, to go after a woman who he felt was Muslim or supportive of the Palestinian community. What a display of misogyny and bigotry. Hugs. Scottie

I think it is fear, pure and simple. I once was in a grocery store and someone was making snide comments about a young lady in a hijab. I verbally let the ignoramus know just what a POS he was for being such a damned racist. Police were called….and the guy was carted off (not me thank goodness). Everyone else around the young lady was supportive of her and a child asked why she wore a scarf and why that man hated scarves. she explained why she wore one. “to honor God”. It happens everywhere now and those of us who care need to find our words and use them against hatred wherever it pops up.

Hi Suze. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You are a much needed person in our country. Have these people that attack women for head coverings ever think it may not be religious. Please don’t misunderstand what I am saying, it is wrong when they do it for that. But a woman may have had cancer treatments that made her hair fall out. Some men are desperate to cover their increasing baldness … such as the cult leader tRump who had his lawyers as for a trial delay because it was going to rain and his hair comb over might be messed up or ruined. Men and women will both wear wigs. Our founding fathers did.
So to me this is entirely a Christian religious bias, how dare you sit here obeying your religion while the rest of us are doing the same thing with our religion, but we out number you.
What do think of what I wrote? Am I close to being correct in what I think? Hugs. Scottie
