Something on my mind…

    1. Hello Ali. Possibly. But not always. A lot of older people want things to remain as it was when they were in their prime, in the 1950s. We have to understand some people can not change their comfort zone after some points. Many can, but others can’t. Beau has a video on this. Like should we listen to an elder who thinks gays and trans are a choice that need conversion therapy? What about those who think the way things were done in the past should be accepted now, even though society and medical science has progressed beyond that. What about religious elders who think we just need go in public schools to make school shootings stop? See it is OK in my mind to question, to evaluate what the elder is saying. Give it a fair hearing. But wrong is wrong no matter the age. Hugs. Scottie

      1. I guess, honestly, my experience with older/elders throughout my life showed me that they only want people to be happy, especially people they love. They don’t care as long as no one gets hurt. I haven’t run into too many older/elder (past 65) who are hateful, though I have no doubt they’re out there. One of my MIL’s roommates had immigrated from Germany, and was bigoted against people of color. Of course the very best nurse’s aide there is black. The woman was very polite, it’s just that as I’d have conversations with her, she’d talk, and bits of bigotry came out. Other than that, she was a cool woman-she had photos of herself, from around 65 yo, on a big motorcycle! With a helmet. Yet it was always like getting cold water splashed on me to talk with her, because she’s say things like “what race is he?” So, I know they’re out there. sigh
