  1. They are actually pretty cool, though I’m certain a fight between an opossum and a cat would not be good. I know an opossum tried to fight with our beagle, and though it did a little damage, it definitely came out on the worse end. Same when one tried with our chow, and our Jack Russell eviscerated an opossum. I felt bad, but the dogs each warned the intruders to get out of the yard before finally showing them they needed to get out of the yard. Ah, well. Opossums eat ticks, and are good parents.

    1. Hi Ali. I dislike them for the damage they due to property. They will burrow under our homes and ripe the insulation out of the A/c Tubes or underneath of the home and use it to line there holes under the homes. The good news is they are easy to catch if in a live trap if a cat doesn’t trip it first. Armadillos are the worst. They simply are horrible to catch, they wont eat any non-live bugs they don’t dig up, so no way to bait a trap. You have to look for their entry / exit hole, and basically built a walled enclosure to the trap so they have to travel into it. As for cats and possums we have never had an issue our outside cats and the possums ignore each other. We feed the cats inside the Florida room so they don’t feel the need to drive the intruders off. Hugs. Scottie
