What a week. I fought with WordPress because they changed how to post links, but even though I lost a lot of work, I got a few here.

Damn fucking WordPress.  I worked for three hours to add to this post.  Everything I added got wiped out due to my forgetting to hit copy and had a link in my clipboard.  Hours and tens of tens of images gone.  No way to get them back.   I hate this new system to force everyone to use the block system, which makes blogging harder for me on the computer as it is designed for doing on a smart phone or tablet.  Damn it.  Sorry guys.  Back to a few more I can add before posting tomorrow.  Hugs.  Scottie

  1. Franklin is such a disappointment. His father was a good and honorable man, in my opinion. I read Franklin’s book, written when he was young, and I enjoyed it. I used to support Samaritan’s Purse. But to see the contrast between what he said about Clinton and what he said about Trump (and Melania) is just tragic and it is extremely unfortunate that he has such a pulpit to influence people.

    1. Hi Susan. I learned stuff about Billy Graham that made him a problem to respect. He was a huge anti-Semite. What made it worse was he was a hypocrite about it, supporting Israel in public and hating Jewish people in private. But as they say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. The son carried on the hypocrisy of the double life when it can to morals, telling others they need to live a life of purity while he lived a private life of debauchery. Hugs. Scottie

      1. After I read your comment I read some things about Billy Graham and the jews. I think this article is a fair representation of the situation.

        https://thecjn.ca/perspectives/what-billy-graham-really-thought-of-jews/

He clearly was recorded saying some very disturbing things but in the context of his entire life i do not think the charge of anti-semite stands up.

However, I also respect your right to your beliefs. Franklin is a product of his times as much as Billy was, but Billy was also reflective and later in life he apologized for ways he got off track.

I do not see Franklin following in those footsteps.

        1. Hi Susan. I followed up on your reply. I searched and speed read a lot of articles. In some they motive was less charitable, but all said he regretted.
It does seem he was contrite and apologetic over what he said. You may be very correct. I was not into the news as much back then as now so I have no first hand information to draw on like I do his son or other bigots of our time. So I will accord him the benefit of the doubt. Thank you. Hugs. Scottie

            1. Hi Susan. You reminded me of a very important point. I often get frustrated when in a conversation with someone and they are incorrect about something but no matter what I say, what facts I present they won’t change their minds. I don’t understand that mindset, that need to never be wrong. I admit I don’t know everything, I maybe wrong about things. I love when people talk about how science changes when new facts become available. I hope I have that mindset, that personality, that if presented with creditable new information my own knowledge and opinion would change. Plus I am grateful when people such as yourself offer new information to let me correct my opinion. Again no one is ever 100% correct about everything. That is impossible. I don’t understand the people who think they have to be. Anyway, thank you for the new information, for giving me the chance to update my opinion. Hugs. Scottie

              1. I also get frustrated in conversations like that. I don’t know if you saw my repost of Michael Ian Black’s recent substack. He beautifully explains that for some (MAGA, to be precise), words no longer mean what they mean.

I am forever grateful for the experiences I have had that help me think critically and I would be the first to acknowledge it takes intentionality to remain open-minded. Thank you for your comment.

                1. Hi Susan. Like you I am thankful for the experience’s and schooling I had that allowed me also to be open minded and to think about what I am seeing / reading to evaluate it, reason about it rather than just accepting dogma. As far as your post, I speed read it, but did not connect with it until I just reread it along with listening to Joh Stewart on the same subject. I think I will post both of them. Thank you for reminding me. Hugs. Scottie

    1. Thank you Shelldigger. I will try to put them out every Sunday at some time during the day. I always try to wait to get the very last ones I can find. I love them and that is why I share them. Unlike the daily cartoons that got too big and too much, I add the ones I come across all week so it is easier, more fun, and still give people a chuckle. I hope you have been well. Oh I am looking for a new bread machine. I don’t like the loaf shape of mine, it makes fat square loafs. I like a more normal looking loaf of bread. Any suggestions? Hugs. Scottie
