Let’s talk about Louisiana, commandments, and tenets….

  1. Hi Scottie; How many times, do you suppose, that this issue has come up in the years? And, how many times was it shot down? I was listening to a clip of the famous “Fox and Friends” and how they “debated” the issue – which can simply be boiled down to “republicans good, democrat bad, point irrelevant” – and how it’s “for the children”. The liberal on the panel said ‘Louisiana is 49th in education – near dead last – maybe they could spend their time and money on something that will improve education’. The end of that was ‘well, you aren’t a Christian’. ????!!

One of the biggest issues I have with the party that seems intent upon shoving their skewed form of Christianity down everyone’s throat is that their ‘dear leader’ seems intent upon violating every single one of those commandments. Think of this, they say they demand the children to contemplate these commandments daily, but, DJT can’t handle #6 (adultery), #7 (steal), #8 (false witness), #9 (covet neighbor’s wife) and #10 (covet goods). He blatantly does not go to church services, so #3 (keep holy the Lord’s day) is out, and he is such a narcissist that the top commandment (no gods before me) is not even a consideration.

In the end, again, this is simply going through the motions. This is showing the forms of religion, and not the intent or spirit. These are the people, as Jesus is reported to have said, that will come to heaven and say ‘Lord, Lord – but he will say begone from me for I never knew you’.

And further, as has made itself apparent quite clearly through very recent history and historically in general, even with a big book of basically agreed upon text, religion has vastly and dramatically changed over the years. When the only thing needed to completely distort a religion is someone influential enough that people will throw away previous understandings, morals and values to support that person or to condemn that person, then how can a government of the people be based on such a shifting base? This country was populated and created by people who were subjected to the whims of an official religion that worked to suit the powerful’s desires. In particular, King Henry VIII – and if anyone can’t imagine DJT doing similar is truly naive.

I want to live in a country that is based on law, and that law needs to be fair to all and fairly applied to all, no matter their economic and political status.

    1. Hi Randy. Well said sir, well said. I listen to John Fugelsang’s podcast, not the entire thing but his intro. He has a grand monologue each show. He went through the Protestant commandments chosen by the legislature and how tRump violated each one. He pointed out how the republicans rewrote the first one to make it fit what they wanted, they chose the group not acceptable to other Christian groups, but more important the very first one, the first commandment demands no other gods than that god, their god. That violates so much of the 1sr amendment. The freedom of speech, the freedom of religion, the freedom of association. Plus you have kindergartners having to have things like thou shall not commit adultery to them. But worse older kids will be forced to look at this list and then watch their parents vote for the guy that breaks them all. What does that say about their commitment to the list of rules? One last thing, when asked about this the person interviewed had a complete melt down when asked what about kids from non-Christian families having to see the list, she responded they just don’t have to look at it, ignore it. But when asked how she would feel being forced to send her Christian children to a school that displayed Islamic tenets or the ones from some other religion she had a complete melt down. Totally lost it. Claimed this was about the country’s history which in her opinion was a Christian driven religious one. Plus think about this. The requirement is for the 10 commandments to be put up but allows for other historical documents. That is how you know it is a bill to drive religious ideas on to people, not about history at all. Hugs. Scottie.
