I want thank PERSONNELENTE whose post I got the link from. Link below. I hate the infighting from Democrats tearing Biden apart. He is old, but he has great ideas. The time to get someone else was back a year or more ago. Plus all these drop Biden people can not agree on who should replace him. If they try to pass over Harris then it is an automatic win tRump. We have to remember who we are facing, it is tRump we must defeat, not Biden. Hugs. Scottie
Sen. J.D. Vance, Donald Trump’s 2024 running mate
Donald Trump announced Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance as his vice presidential running mate on Monday. The following article is composed of direct quotes from Vance about Trump, given in interviews, op-eds, tweets, and text messages.
I’m a “never Trump” guy. I never liked him.1
I don’t know who I’m gonna vote for. I’m definitely not gonna vote for Trump because I think that he’s projecting very complex problems onto simple villains.2 I quickly realized that Trump’s actual policy proposals, such as they are, range from immoral to absurd.3
Trump instead offers a political high, a promise to “Make America Great Again” without a single good idea regarding how.4 [His] promises are the needle in America’s collective vein. … Trump is cultural heroin. He makes some feel better for a bit. But he cannot fix what ails them, and one day they’ll realize it.5 Whether he wins or not, people are going to wake up and realize these problems are still there.6
Without some recognition that some of these problems in our community are not the fault of other people, they’re not going to be solved by a Mexican border wall or better trade deals with China. Without some recognition along those lines, I don’t believe these problems are ever truly going to get better.7
And if you think, as I do, that Donald Trump doesn’t necessarily have a good message either, that’s maybe not the best approach to politics. It’s not how you win these folks over. And if you’re worried about them being racist now, when you push them away and push them to somebody like Trump, you’re only going to make the problem worse.8
But I’m not surprised by Trump’s rise, and I think the entire [Republican] Party has only itself to blame. We are, whether we like it or not, the party of lower-income, lower-education white people, and I have been saying for a long time that we need to offer those people SOMETHING (and hell, maybe even expand our appeal to working class black people in the process) or a demagogue would. We are now at that point. Trump is the fruit of the party’s collective neglect. … I go back and forth between thinking Trump is a cynical asshole like Nixon who wouldn’t be that bad (and might even prove useful) or that he’s America’s Hitler. How’s that for discouraging?9
The other big problem I have with Trump is that he has dragged down our entire political conversation.10 [He] is changing the way people think about other groups of people in a very negative way.11 [T]here is definitely an element of [his] support that has its basis in racism or xenophobia.12
A lot of people think Trump is just the first to appeal to the racism and xenophobia that were already there, but I think he’s making the problem worse.13 There are people who are drawn to Trump because he says racially insensitive things.14 [He] still hasn’t apologized for suggesting that a disproportionate share of Mexican immigrants are rapists and criminals.15
People listen to what their political leaders are telling them, and my view is both that Trump is tapping into some racially ugly attitudes, but also that he is leading people to racially ugly attitudes. … [He] is exploiting something but he’s also leading the white working class to a very dark place.16 His rallies may be cathartic, as he screams and yells at conjured enemies, but he offers no solutions. His entire candidacy is an exercise in pointing the finger at someone else. In pointing that finger so repeatedly and enthusiastically, Donald Trump has debased our entire political culture.17
I can’t stomach Trump. I think that he’s noxious and is leading the white working class to a very dark place.18 [He] makes people I care about afraid. Immigrants, Muslims, etc. Because of this I find him reprehensible. God wants better of us.19
Mr. Trump is unfit for our nation’s highest office.20

Yeah, I think we’ve determined in what profession Sen. Vance actually makes his money, now it’s just seeing from where that paycheck starts coming. I don’t mean the one from we the people for his supposed Senate work, either.

Hi Ali. Yes it is clear that the Silicon Valley Wealthy demanded this pick, and tRump got rewarded by a lot of big money donations. Vance is more dangerous than tRump. He got convinced to become a hard line Catholic by his boss Theil. He drank the Kool-Aid and now wants anything not church doctrine banned by law. Basically outlawing a third or more of the public. He has said that the country made a mistake letting women vote, so raise that percentage to over 50% of the population. Then you realize he is a white nationalist … So that means even the black people don’t count or should vote in his country. Shrink the majority even further. That is the Republican Party of the US today. A set of small minorities who band together to make a minority that can win and force the much larger majority to bow to their church doctrines and white supremacist rule. It is a scary time for me. Sadly Ron is taking to say he is glad he is so old now that he won’t have long to live under it. I really dislike that. I want us to live much longer. But if he gives up hope. I am angry at the religious right in this country for what they have done. They have enabled the white supremacists to get a foothold so they can push out the democrats who they claim are Satan for not agreeing with their church doctrines imposed on everyone. Hugs. Scottie

Well, we just have to concentrate on GOTV for the real majority. We’ll have to get turnout the same as in 20 and 22, and even more, if possible. We can do it, if we just recover a bit from last night (the convention closing awfulness,) then get back on it.

Hi Ali. What the democratic corporate establishment is doing to Biden right now is hurting the vote for Biden immensely. One way or another it has to stop. They should be attacking tRump and Vance instead. Why are we eating out own for my dogs that love gravy sake. We need to got voter confidence back up. Voters did not care about the debate, big money donors did. We have to remember the voters are the ones who vote. tRump is a threat to democracy, that is the point we need to hammer, not that Biden is old. Hugs. Scottie

I guess what I mean is, though, we the voters have to do it. Media won’t do it. Really, according to about everything, more voters want the Biden-Harris ticket, and want to move on to campaign and win the election. We know that. So, we have to do more than our parts to get that home to all, because those who have a part but love horse racing more aren’t going to do it.

Hi Ali. Oh you are very correct. It is up to the voters now. But the big money doesn’t want Biden as he was too progressive and his newest promises are heavy taxes on the wealthy. They hate that. Tax the poor, cut benefits for the lowest incomes but leave us rich alone. So they shut off money to the democratic congress people until they dump Biden. They think someone younger they would have more control over. Hugs. Scottie

Back peddling, changing sides and hypocrisy are all part of the political game, and woe upon my Realpolitik view point I can deal with that.
What infuriates me if when the person doing it has no style, or awareness of the risks, or comes to the new game without their own ideas on how to massage and influence the message of the new lot they have bought into, and above all is displaying a level of ignorance about the world in general.
This is unashamed clambering on a bandwagon. Trump chose him probably because he still has a high profile from Hillbilly Elegy, and that will look good with the Trump cult.
Jeez Louise!!
Take care you guys.

Hi Roger. I love it. He is a styless hack only full of ambition but no real skill. But he did have one thing to offer tRump that tRump desperately needs / wants. Silicon Valley billionaires support Vance. Peter Thiel bank rolled Vance into politics and has been his personal ATM to advance. Elon Musk promised tRump 45 million a month for the rest of the election if he picked Vance. So basically tRump got paid to take Vance.
But Vance is dangerous for more than being a toady. He is anti-LGBTQ+ especially trans people. He thinks they are mentally ill and need to be erased from society. Due to Thiel he converted to a hard core version of Catholic faith. So he uses that against LGBTQ+ people, along with anyone who resists the idea of a theocratic nation. He is craven and already said he would have followed what tRump wanted and not approved Biden’s election. He loves Putin and hates Ukraine, and said he would give Ukraine to Russia if he gets a chance. He has run down Ukraine and voted against everything done to help them. But you are correct, he looks wonderful to the tRump cult and to Putin. Hugs. Scottie

I read somewhere he’d ‘converted’ to Catholicism, and wondered ‘which one’. Sheila and I have no time at all for those who have hitched themselves to MAGA simply for its ‘pro-life’; stance. If MAGA do get a tight grip, somewhere down the line these misguided catholic will be looked on with suspicion because as far as the fundamentalist mentality is concerned ‘They bow to Rome’.
Vance came onto my Snark Radar when he made a traditionally american right-wing stupid remark about the UK displaying a common breath-taking ignorance.
There was a Snark response:
