Scottie: I believe you know I am a widow. What you may not know, is that Barbara died owing over a quarter million dollars to the hospitals. She was 48 when she passed away. She had been in and out of hospitals for almost two years.

I was thinking along similar lines as to US health care; NBC should state that it continues to decline. We’ve been behind for years. ACA helped, some, but not enough, and only on the aspects of insurance coverage and some maintenance care. For profit health care is wrong; health care should be infrastructure.

That happened in 2008-2010. Yes, we have been far behind for a very long time.

Hi Janet. Yes I did know you were a widow, and I grieve for your loss. If you wish to talk about your wife and your time together I am always willing to listen as I am sure the people here are also. One thing I know from my own pain is shared pain is easier to handle.
I think of my greatest fears is losing Ron. He is going to be 70 this year as I turn 62. He feels better now than in the last few years, but two years ago he was sure he would die in a few years so worked hard not to leave me stranded with a house needing work.
I did not know of your medical debt. How are you handling it? Did it get forgiven? In 2014 Ron and I had to declare bankruptcy due to my own medical debt. That has cost us greatly. I had lost my entire upper part of my left leg and needed a complete hip replacement. I had already had the right one replaced. But even though I was basically back in a wheelchair I had to wait until 2017 until my disability kicked back in that I gave up in 2010 to go back to work and for Ron and I to be able to marry so that I could have coverage by his insurance to be able to afford the operation.
So for three years I had no hip bone, and had to suffer in a lot of pain sucking down pain medications simply due to lack of money / insurance to get the operation so I could walk again. Hugs.

Barbara and I were common law spouses. There was no marriage license. As such, I sent copies of her death certificate to the medical creditors. I never heard from them again.
I’m sorry for your health troubles. I hope you are better now.

Thank you Janet. You are a very caring person. My health has been an ongoing lifelong issue, both physical and mental. But it could be a lot worse. My first orthopedic surgeon who was with the VA system., He looked at my test results of my bones and said “You suffered a lot of childhood abuse didn’t you”? He was the best surgeon I had. Sadly he left before I got my right hip done and the guy who did it was in his late 70s and highly religious doing his duty to god and country by operating on veterans. He flayed me cutting a huge amount of leg and ass muscle that has never grown back leaving me with a huge scar. The guy who did my left hip in 2017 left a 3 inch small scar you can hardly see and I feel no pain or muscle loss.
I am really glad they don’t bother you now, but I am so very sorry for her health costs. The US is acting like other countries don’t already have universal healthcare and even countries we subsidize like Israel have universal single payer healthcare, yet we give them over 2 billion in aid that they use to build settlements in the West Bank. But we can not afford it according to the wealthy rich people complaining they are too poor and need more taxpayer money. What people who can’t eat or are homeless, screw them we need another house or yacht. Bastards. Hugs. Scottie
