What I like about this video is he uses the bibles own words against the followers of the bible’s vengeful angry god who worship the bible instead of following the teachings of Jesus. The bible is a story of a people looking for god, finding god, running away from god, disobeying god, and returning to god. It is not a thing to worship as even the bible says don’t worship the book. Instead the Christians follow Jesus and his teachings. How many Christians today such as Nancy Mace should really call themselves Biblians because they follow a collection of stories about the people instead of the New Testament of the Jesus. Hugs
Hi Scottie; I remember a one-time social motion known as “What Would Jesus Do”. One of the most difficult journeys of someone intent upon following Christ is what to do when the Bible doesn’t seem to offer the exact solution. What to do when the instruction book doesn’t cover that scenario??
It is difficult to understand the difference between following Christ and “I follow Pastor “x”” or “I follow Catholic Church” or etc. These pastors, these denominations, these words in the Bible are meant to be sign posts, a map, a help in pointing where to go, who to see, how to go about getting there. These are not a recipe, but a guide. Developing that humble willingness to be as Christ: to offer love, acceptance, forgiveness, to make people whole; these are the callings of a Christian; these are the callings of those who would follow Christ.
I am sad for our modern day Pharisee’s who believe that there must be a proper dance, a proper way of dressing and attending church, of singing, yet never understanding that requirement of change, of humble searching and care… They want someone to tell them what to do. And so they fall victim to the cults, the users, the takers, and soon they are trapped in a nightmare or they think themselves righteous and holy as they abuse and stand in judgement of those they deem unworthy. All because some person told them to.
