And that’s the entire opposite of what the US military is about (as I understand things.) No choices as to very much, and certainly No Choice about one’s Oath To The US Constitution. What Hegseth says is treasonous, IMO. If it isn’t, it ought to be, because he’s saying that oath means nothing. In the USA, the law and the constitution are (still) everything, and the military does not go against the people at any time for any reason. It’s one of the issues that set us apart back in the early days of the country. We should really be using the resources we still have to pester people in the government about this while we still can, in order to make sure we still always can. But, if we the people are just gonna let it go, I guess there’s no sense getting upset about all this stuff.

Hi Ali. You should get upset about it. He is a man being nominated by a president-elect who has shown he has contempt for the rule of law and for the constitution, and he is talking using the US military to keep the public from using their constitutional and legal rights. It is government at the barrel of the gun, gang thug rule. I will post below the out the military take. I took the oath for the enlisted. Also there is the Pose Comitatus act. The Posse Comitatus Act bars federal troops from participating in civilian law enforcement except when expressly authorized by law. This 143-year-old law embodies an American tradition that sees military interference in civilian affairs as a threat to both democracy and personal liberty. However, recent events have revealed dangerous gaps in the law’s coverage that Congress must address. I agree with you so much on this Ali. Hugs.
The Oath of Enlistment (for enlisted):
“I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”
The Oath of Office (for officers):
“I, _____ (SSAN), having been appointed an officer in the _____ (Military Branch) of the United States, as indicated above in the grade of _____ do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter; So help me God.”

Well, I remember you served the US in the military, and I thought this would probably upset and offend you. I know whenever it’s come up over my lifetime, all the vets in my family got quite angry about it. The idea goes against all you veterans and current service members, too, risk your lives to protect. Sheesh. How it doesn’t offend people like Michael Flynn and Pete Hegseth is beyond me. Really beyond me.

Hi Ali. I served in both the US Navy first and then did 4 years in the US Army. I don’t know why those people are OK with all that tRump and those you mentioned are trying to do or did. Jan 6th was an insurrection which was the enemy domestically … And they were part of that. They were the enemy from with in!
But their greed, their racism, their bigotry is what is driving them. One of the things the upper military were trying to remove for the last 15 years was a white supremacy surge in the military which was led by the very people you mentioned. That was often coupled with the Christian nationalism again pushed by those like the two you mentioned. And what famous group in history combined racial nationality with religion …Yes the very group supporting tRump … the Nazis. That is why DeathSantis wouldn’t disavow the Nazis marching for him. That is why tRump won’t come out against the proud boys and other gangs that are for him. They are his brownshirts from history. Hugs

Oh I forgot to mention that program to remove the hater bigot Christian Nationalist out of the service is now in great jeopardy as you can see with tRump pushing a hater bigot Christian nationalist for Defense Secretary. Hugs
