  1. And it didn’t work, and even contributed to the later supply-chain issues during COVID-19, in part by hurting farmers very badly.

And he still doesn’t understand tariffs. Sheesh.

    1. Hi Ali. Yes it cost the US taxpayers 16 billion according to Wikipedia. He did not care how it hurt the taxpayers or the public, it was not his money he was throwing around. It was ours. Plus he got to look good, see my trade wars got you more money … he just failed to mention that it was US money not China’s. He is already lying about Mexico kissing his ass when Mexico said no to him. Their leader said put tariffs on us we will do the same and put your companies out of business. Hugs

Retaliatory tariffs by China targeted U.S. agriculture, specifically soybeans, which required the United States government to aid domestic farmers. To improve trade competitiveness, the Trump administration revealed a plan to help US farmers in the form of state aid.,[8] with a planned bailout program of $12 billion state aid to US farmers suffering from the US-China trade war. In 2018 Trump administration introduced $16 billion (~$19.1 billion in 2023) of new trade aid.[9][10] In 2019, the Donald Trump administration increased the bailout to $16 billion (~$18.8 billion in 2023).[11]
