Yes Bruce I was going to post a short thing on that but I ran out of time this morning. I got side tracked talking to people for four hours. Yes it was worth missing the posting. I love my friends and enjoy talking with them.
But back to Phony Stark, a name I love did you think of that, it is genius. I think I seen it used on Ten Grain’s site also. But back to Phony, he basically bought his own president who will let him rake in even more billions from the government. This guy wouldn’t have half the money he does if the companies he bought into were not getting huge government subsidies, and with all his talks of cutting the budget they want to do it without touching their own government cash cows, those subsidies. So where will they get the money to send even more of it to them … why by cutting every program from the budget designed to help the poor people. Why do poor people need government money, government never works for the poor, government in their view is to work only for the wealthy to help them get more wealthy? I hate it. Once the US also hated that idea. But in 1980 a group put in Reagan in response to Cater’s trying to do more for the people while doing less for the wealthy. That started 40 years of the idea of trickle down which was never money coming down, but … well you know. They were pissing on us and a large part of the population bought into the idea they should love it. Just like my abusers when I was a child. No Phony Stark and his cohorts want to finish the job of totally making us Russia and other totally corrupt countries that the entire countries wealth goes to the upper class and the people, the public struggle to survive living in tiny apartments with no luxuries except booze to drink themselves to an early grave. I may have come up with Phony Stark independently, or may just have appropriated it long ago, but it is the name I use for him exclusively, (which is probably why you remember it from Tengrain’s joint; I an a frequent commenter there.)
I think it describes him perfectly…it is the fantasy he has of himself as this great genius.

Hi Bruce. You seem to be correct. No doubt about it. Very few people can survive getting wealthy and keep their humanity. I wonder if the reason they got wealthy is they did not have much humanity to begin with. Phone Stark never did that was sure, especially if he is like his father. It seems to be a drug most people seem to need more and more of no matter how much they get. I wonder why or how to fix this. Hugs

I think you are correct when you get to the level that you are comfortable, have no worries, have all the luxuries, and know your children / family will be taken care of … if then you still pursue wealth over everything else in the world, over the needs of the people you use to gain it, with no care about those hurt, just so you can claim bragging rights … then you have been corrupted by greed. I can only read so far without then falling into the trap of replying with an obscenity ladened rant and being most unchristian like in my suggestions as to what may befall those on the US Right who can these comments or allow miscreants places in authority just because they ‘Talk the Talk’.

This is a typical piece of small minded thinking by someone who has lived and breathed private enterprise as a religion and not as part of a balanced functioning society.
If he thinks this will be ‘good for them’; then he as one had better make damn sure there are a sufficiency of jobs on means for folk o start up their own enterprises. He had the good fortune to be born into a family with advantages and did not have to crawl up from the very bottom.
And if there are not those jobs or opportunities then folk with either decline into nothing or turn to crime, either places am extra burden on society.
All he is doing is compiling misery on those already struggling.
Also by depleting the public services means that the nation’s infrastructure also suffers.
This myth and prejudice against funding a fully regulated, efficient and motivated public service which benefits all.
He has not had to struggle. He has not had to walk home from home because he could not afford the transport fare, and in leaking shoes which have been patched up with plastic food bags because the children’s shoes came first, and that’s when a person is / was full time employed.
OK I’m done here Scottie, anger is going up and up into incendiary.

Hi Roger. I love your writings, Christian or not. Sometimes the not more, but … Ok here is the thing. I regret my lack of formal education, but I analyze what I read as best I can and try to remember enough to be able to cross look up and read some more on the subject.
Ramaswamy made the majority of his fortune building up a drug that he already knew was a failure to gain the best stock position, then sold it to another drug company for a huge amount to become even more fabulously wealthy. He moved on from there, investing and gouging others as much as possible to gain that golden standard of belong to the best clubs. You know clubs that for his wealth he would be denied entry to as a brown person. He feels so happy being a brown person at the white people’s club … but fails to notice he is never really mentioned. The Phony Stark Elon Musk, the white guy is always by tRump’s side, he is the one calling the shots. Ramaswamy tries to grab a headline here or there but he really is just a token and I think he is realizing it. Yet a seat in the room, even at the back is better to him than being left out entirely. Like he has just made happen to all the other brown people without his wealth or lack of opportunity.
Unrestrained capitalism kills itself. It sucks dry the item that provides the wealth, it kills the golden goose. European countries realized this and did very well by their public and the companies. The US was trying, but the wealthy soon took over buying the levers of power. Now they are killing the goose that lays the golden eggs because they think they well just move and find a new goose.
That is the situation we in the US find ourselves in. The wealthy have taken over using a preening puppet as their way to rape the entire country. In the last 50 years 50 trillion dollars have moved from the bottom 90% to the top 1%. That is not sustainable and the US is being forced into the Russian public mode of tiny living arrangements, no luxuries, no personal freedoms of expression, and only the ability to drink oneself to an early grave solves working to enrich the oligarchy.
Roger I hope you will write more on this subject. I worry how far down the Russian public road our country will travel and how far they will drive the 337 million people who live here. I just don’t understand the competing forces of religion and greed along with hate and willingness to see others as not human and deserving of violence. Hugs

Thank you once more for your kind comments on my writing Scottie. In response I must say that you display an eloquence and depth all of your own.
Education does not come into this, I have witnessed university educated pundits whose comments are ill-argued and downright ‘bonehead’. What does matter is what comes from the heart and the writer’s own style of putting those words out into the public domain. And you have consistently and solidly argued your case for compassion and tolerance.
As regards these very rich folk who make their unkind, unfeeling ill-thought out comments, they would do well to reflect on the environment them reside in within the USA.
Brian Thompson was murdered in broad daylight in a large city. The killer got away, and within the public forums there were a lot of chilling comments mirroring approval for that act,
The simmering anger, always that simmering anger, is there.

Oh Roger. First I thank you deeply for the compliment on my abilities to reason and think on things. I value that as you can understand because during my entire childhood and up bringing, anything I was interested in or possibly could do was violently discouraged. I once wanted to learn to play an instrument and had a few of my fingers broken to remind me I was not allowed. When it was found out I joined a chorus class, I was strangled while I was ordered to sing. I took the “hint” and dropped out. So when you or others I admire and who I think are so well reasoned, well read, and so eloquent in their writing bother to read what I write I am delighted beyond belief. I was told and had it beaten into me how worthless and … I was. Oh well. It is so ingrained to me that even now at 62 with all I have accomplished I struggle to accept I might be worthy or have accomplished anything.
You often talked about how history is against the money hoarders and those in charge who harm the lower class / public masses. But history also shows dynasties of horrible leaders who torture the mass public for their own gain. I take heart that Bashar al-Assad just fell, but what / who took over will be worse for the people if what scares me.
I want to have faith … or at least hope that the US can somehow get back to that wonderful progressive movement the US had in the mid 2010s because as you say that simmering anger is there. But in the US that anger has been building since the 1980s when Reagan started to take all the countries wealth from the bottom and push it to the upper incomes. Yet it still gets worse for the lower incomes / poor and increasing very much better for the upper incomes to the point many of us wonder in the next few years how we will survive? I have needed new glasses for five years, we put it off until next year but I wonder what will happen to change it even later. This year the cost of living increase for Ron and I is to be at 2.6%. So the very government that decided that also decided to increase our Medicare premium 6%. So tell us who are barely making it with no luxuries how we handle this and still rebel. Sorry to be so bitter but … waiting for the revolution that Kamala Harris could have started was denied by a pretend billionaire who hawks everything he can to make a buck while pretending to be wealthy. A man so stupid he has to proclaim himself a stable genius, and claims his uncle went to M.I.T. so that makes him a genius like his uncle.
Anyway Roger, sorry to be so down. I am watching all the greatest things of my country be flush down the toilet and have no way to fight back other than words which I feel I don’t do well enough. Hugs, so many desperate warm hugs.

You have a large heart and a strong working mind Scottie, the fact that you came back from such an unhappy childhood, and are still here speaking Peace and Tolerance shows that.
It is a very hard call to keep positive in the face of the evidence. Yes we see some of the bad folk get their come uppances and fall from their splendour. And yet there will be others to take their place. We see folk making the same mistakes that were made in earlier generations. We witness the vain and the greedy strut around seemingly immune to the rest of the trials of the world. We witness nations or communities rise and progress, then stumble and decline.
Where is the evidence to give us hope?
It is there amongst the ‘small’ folk who work in charities. The ones who well help a person who falls. Those who risk their lives to rescue others. Those who care for other species and yes even risk their lives. Those who meld their lives one way or another into a creed or belief system which promotes Compassion, Respect and Tolerance. Those amongst the millions upon millions who simply work doggedly day to day for their families and communities. Those who fall and yet get up, changed. Those who turn their backs on the Hate Mongers and the Prejudiced. Those who, just keep on keeping on and not take out their disappointments and trials on others.
If it were not for these, then the world would be one of those dystopian set up as written in countless books, games and songs.
It is folk such as these, folk like you too, who are in slender, invisible and yet continual glue which holds it together, stems the Anger from taking control of us all, until better times come along.

Hi Roger. I never thought of that. They can try to beat down and drive out all decency from a population to allow the upper elite to get away with any despicable debauchery they wish, but the fact that there is always a net work of people that form to help each other show that the spirit of kindness and shared suffering can never be destroyed. Looking back even in the worst of the Nazi depravity and inhuman attacks on Jewish people there were still Germans willing to risk hiding them. In the times of chattel slavery when the laws said if you helped a slave escape their masters you could lose everything you had the governor of Vermont had secret rooms and hiding places in his home to be part of the underground railroad. If you don’t know, but I bet you do, that was what the movement to help black people leave slave states and become free people. I have always admired people like Harriet Tubman and Sojourner Truth who constantly risked detection and returning to the life of horror of being a chattel slave. LGBTQ+ people might need some underground network to get us out of red states. Thanks for the uplifting emotional gift. Hugs

Again sorry for the delay in replying Scottie, the days do seem to get away from me.
When I read of the fanatical backlash unleashed against the pro-choice and woman who would be in the situation of wishing to have an abortion, the first thought which came to mind was of the Underground for escaping slaves.
And later thoughts for LGBT+ folk.
These reactionary folk with their dismantling and discriminatory action, they just lack the perception that they are running the risk for forcing apart the USA in separate communities and worse.
Those who voted for Trump this time, unless they change their ways will not be looked on sympathetically by coming generations.
