#actuallyautistic voices

I am not autistic. But many of us here read Barry’s blog to learn, and to be more effective allies. The next 2 entries on his blog are informative, as well.

      1. Neurotypicals expect speaking to be done in real time – something I don’t do well at. I have an array of prepared sentences that I can use in day to day communications, but if a conversation goes off script I flounder. Writing is not time dependant, at least not to the same extent. That gives me time to convert my thoughts (which are not word based) into language that non-autistic people can comprehend.

        1. And thank you for that-I like to know things about people. I’d presumed speaking flowed the way your writing does. I’m glad there is a medium that works for you.
