Hi Ali. I agree. It seems they take great joy in making accusations against others that we find out they are doing themselves. But the question is why? Are they trying to normalize such actions so when it comes out they are doing it then it won’t hurt him that much? Or is it that they feel guilt and shame and their way of dealing with it is to throw that accusation against others rather than themselves or the places they support. I am talking about the vilification of Drag Queen Story Hours as sexually abuse of kids … yet they ignore the major news source of abuse of kids … religious organizations and juvenile detention facilities. Both places they support unquestionably.
So Ali my thought is we need to understand why they do this shuffle from them to everyone else so that we can better combat them / this tactic. Ali the Democrats and Progressives need to separately find their footing and step up the messaging in this modern age. That is why we are in this problem, we did not and couldn’t speak up while the republicans / maga were yelling everywhere with blow horns. But we have Chuck Schumer droning on in his weak voice how people are aroused and instead of AOC we have the 76 year old barely able to talk corporate democrat trying to talk back against the corporate take over by Musk … while he couldn’t even stay in his computer camera and his voice wavered and faded in and out. Yes thank you Pelosi that is just what we needed to fight back against the daily rants of the younger stronger republicans. Hugs

I feel that Republicans practice deflection, which is a psychology term for this action we’re discussing. I do believe that they may be trying to normalize their behavior, as well, in case they’re one of the many who get caught decrying what they themselves do.
AOC is everywhere talking, as are many of this next gen of Dems. I don’t know why you’re not seeing her, and so many others, but it’s happening. Honestly, I mostly get emails with links to what they’re doing, but the news newsletters contain that info, too. At least, AP and The Guardian do; I read those. I also see them on Oliver Willis’s site. Anway, we only see what we’re shown about Schumer, but he’s a little stronger on this stuff than he’s portrayed. I guess it depends upon what people want to see, too.
To me, though, Dems (maybe leaving out Fetterman and possibly Klobuchar, though she learns when she’s redirected) need we the people’s support. I believe we could have prevented the US invading Afghanistan and Iraq if people had spoken up and backed up the Dems who were stolidly against those incursions, and it would have brought more Dems forward and some Republicans. The fact is that if people think they’re going to be hurt in some fashion and no one’s supporting them anyway, they’re not going to do much. How can we blame them? At least this time around, Republicans haven’t spread anthrax around the US capital. That’s a plus.

Hi Ali. I follow AOC on Bluesky and I do see some stuff by younger democrats fighting. But I don’t get any emails about it. I do listen to the Allison Gill’s Daily Beans podcast morning news which is about 20 to 30 minutes of news and a lot of other podcasts of news, but very little of it is about fighting back by the majority of the party. AOC is one person. And Pelosi is doing everything she can to marginalize her. Sorry I just don’t see the pushback as forceful enough in any way. As I wrote the republicans get in front of every microphone they can and bark their lies until people believe them. Remember the death panels in the ACA Obama care? They never existed but people believed it because the entire Republican Party talked about it constantly. I just watched Hakeem Jeffries on CNN. He was wishy-washy, he did not state things as we must or we need. Instead he kept saying we need to find out more. Just before him I watch a clip on a news show of a republican lying forcefully and pushing his lie hard. The clip after him was the same. So yes the democrats need to do more.
For the first time last year acceptance of same sex marriage and gay people dropped. Why because the constant attacks by the right. They did the same thing with trans people. There are 10 trans people in the adult sports leagues but look at the flurry of anti-trans people in sports. It is damn good marketing and the left better get back to it. They need to stop sucking up to the corporate dollars that corporate democrats led by Pelosi are doing. And look how it built on the media attention, the more they mentioned it, the more they hammered it, the more traction it gained making it more popular to ban. Democrats better learn this skill fast. Remember the crying Indian ads they changed a generation’s view on cleaning up the country.
I don’t know much about the political situation back then during the Iraq war. I was working 12 hour shifts 8 days in a row with basic cable. So I understand why people today are over worked and not keeping up with the news, because if you are working so much while keeping home or family and doing all the necessary stuff to live, with time for very few luxuries. Right now I am downloading my vast movie library from Amazon. Looking over these hundreds of movies I realize I want to watch them, some I have paid for but not found time to watch. Why because I am glued to the video computer playing news and LGBTQ+ items. At the same time I am trying to read and post news while finding time to reply to comments which I really like doing. And yes I understand I am limited to time due to my body problem and now with our current house issues. But think how worse some working people have it to see the true news when every doctor’s office here used to play Fox entertainment, and when co-workers are spouting the misinformation and hate.
And no my personality won’t let me just disengage and stop long enough to watch movies and play on the Xbox. We have tried to set time limit but like a kid I can’t keep to them. The news and the blog are an addiction to me. I understand why when Beau had to walk away from his channel it had to be total. Because I can’t do it by bits and drabs, I am in or not in.
I do get news alerts from the Guardian as can be seen from how often I post their articles. But as you can see by the things I post it is not the democrats standing up firm on an issue, it is the republicans steam rolling over our democracy to destroy it for profit.
As for Fetterman he is part of why Kamala lost. He was so scared of the money the Israeli lobby was hitting pro-Palestinian people that he threw away the idea of if we elected Harris it could change and instead voiced repeatedly the republican position. People listening to the news seen that even democrats feel Israel should just wipe out the Palestinians out of Gaza.
As to Schumer he may be great behind the scenes, but the current media is visual and speakers need to be vital. That is what killed Biden, he couldn’t be vocal and forceful while telling the truth. Yes most democrats understood he had a speech problem. But at the same time tRump was bellowing and acting vital on every media, proving to the people how weak Biden seemed and strong tRump was. That was why tRump wouldn’t do a second debate with Kamala. She showed strength while he was angry and weak. The right worships strength and power. They love the aggressive hateful tRump and next to that we put up weak voiced Schumer and Pelosi who couldn’t talk in full sentences because she was 78 years old and struggling to breathe.
Ali that is my entire point and it seems to being missed. The democrats better get far more aggressive at championing the things this party believes in if they want people to vote for them. The fact that Kamala let the right hammer on with millions of dollars in adverts about how bad trans care was without responding cost her a lot of votes in our community. The democrats need to stop running from issues and confront them with the idea of changing opinions and minds. They need to be Ted Kennedy who was called the lion of the Senate, not the current milk toast wait until the people turn on tRump that the current strategy is. They are leaving the fight to blogger and podcasters instead of leading the charge. The Democratic Party just voted in an old timer instead of a younger firebrand that turned around a 40 point deficit to almost giving the state to Kamala. Why. Tell me why after loss and after loss are we still doing the same things. IMO Hugs

Hi Keith. So true. He likes to brag that he alone makes the US respected. He claims that under Obama the world disrespected and walked all over the US, yet the data and polling shows the complete opposite. Then he claimed he made us respected again, yet again the data showed he was wrong as our credibility and likability tanked under tRump. Then tRump claims that Biden let everyone again disrespect us and walk all over us. Again the data shows that Biden was rebuilding the good will the US used to normally have. Now it is tanking again at the same time he is bellowing loudly to his base maga cult that everyone fears the US and cowers before us because they fear him. But only weak bullies think that is the way to do gain friends, do business, or establish long term benefits relationships. It is so sick. It is an 8 year old bullies dream of what really makes someone like you or care for you, make them fear you and cower before you. tRump is a weak man’s idea of what a strong man is. I know those kinds of stunted adults exist, I grew up in a household of them. It did not generate good will nor long term benefits. Real strong men protect those who need it, who are weaker than the bullies. I have known those types of men also. Hugs
