Hi all. The dumbing down of the US is intentional. The republicans as a party understood that people who are not educated well are easier to lie too and lead down the wrong path. They slashed funding for inner city schools … read not always white kids … and they let the Christians try to push their bible into the school curriculums to undermine science and geology. They stop sexual education to create hardships of pregnant young couples or single girls / women trying to raise a child. In Idaho the republicans took the teaching of consent out of the sex ed curriculum claiming the idea of consent is controversial in some communities. What? Who doesn’t want females of any age to have to want sex instead of having it forced on them against their will? I guess men who do not see women as equal and people having agency. Hugs

Hi Scottie. I was thinking about things during the QAnon phase. I really do think there was a person out there just gobsmacked that no matter how outlandish, how criminally stupid of a statement he made, people lapped it up and would repeat it, believe it!! Hell, we had a member of congress spouting it like mana from on high! People don’t think about things, they react. They don’t have morals and boundaries, they have enemies and personal grievances. They got told that if they wave the American flag and scream “America! Don’t like it, leave it!” it showed they were patriotic, and they could do so loudly because the people who said ” I love my country, I just don’t like what it is doing here on this issue ” were thought weak and easily lead. It’s like having a car and declaring it is the best car in the world, but refusing to have the engine knock checked. Hell, Archie Bunker was a visionary of prophecy and karma, but while everyone laughed no one listened or learned.

What’s worse, our “news” organizations are not about news, they are about different forms of entertainment where the commercials last longer than the substance of their “news” reports. In the end, like you said, people have lost not only the depth of education, but the willingness to dig deeper into the subject and understand the issues. I’m embarrassed by the number of times that I – who really know very little about the world, let’s be real here! – find myself correcting people on basic issues.

And, like you said – and similar to a meme I saw once, the powers that be are not going to educate the masses so well as to be overthrown!! No! They will only educate them enough to be easily manipulated. It says it all that women voted for drumpf. I mean, there’s shooting yourself in the foot, and then there’s liking it so much you do it again. Go figure.
