Hi Roger. tRump is totally transactional and uninterested in the welfare of the US public. He sees anyone not wealthy as below notice or worth. They are only there to make the wealthy more money. That is their own worth and to him and his wealthy peers should be their only goal. They don’t see the lower incomes as needing the luxuries they enjoy. Eating out at restaurants is only for the wealthy, having an expensive phone is only for the wealthy, only they should have decent housing the lower incomes should live in dorm like housing, having large TVs or other entertainments are only for the wealthy in their world view as they think the lower incomes don’t deserve them. The wealthy don’t care if the lower incomes have healthcare unless it makes them more money, otherwise it is a waste in their world view. Lower incomes should have nothing of comfort to be desperate enough to take any job at any wage in any unsafe condition just to survive and they won’t complain for fear of losing that job. Ron worked for two different wealthy people as a butler, and they really think lower incomes are simply disposable and only use / purpose is to make them more wealth. Hugs

If Trump and his lot had been on the Titanic, they would firstly have been grabbing the ice for their drinks. Then would have denied there was any danger and insisted the captain keep on sailing so they get to New York in time and finally when the game was up be the first to try and get into the boats.

Oh Roger how correct you are. No wonder you can write so well and interestingly. You have a sharp mind and understand what motivates different humans and just how far they will go. I admit I wish I had half that gift. I often feel at a loss to understand why these people in tRump’s orbit, from the cult members to the people around him to the Uber wealthy in his cabinet that completely lie or struggle to denying reality that they built their wealth on to please the dear leader. It confuses me. I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t willingly debase myself that way. Been there, had it forced on me in childhood. But these people choose it. Is it a fetish for them? I just don’t understand. Hugs

I have read a fair amount of both fact and fiction, absorbed a lot from tv and radio (not as much as I used to), and there’s my DVD collection. So there is a lot of recycling and adapting that goes on in my head, while trying not to outright copy and steal.
The ‘Titanic’ analogy does have its roots in two sources:
1. The British film ‘A Night To Remember’ which to me is far superior to the James Cameron ‘Titanic’ in that it covers a whole slew of folk, like a documentary.
2. On of my go-to books ‘Despatches’ by Michael Herr recounting his experiences as a journalist in Vietnam in the late 1960s. It is a book packed with gems of observations. The ‘Titanic’ one is a scathing observation on the Military Establishment in Vietnam at the time saying all was fine:

This antic Thumbs-Upmanship was best pegged by a British correspondent who compared it all to the captain of the Titanic announcing, “There’s nothing to be alarmed about, ladies and gentlemen. We’re only stopping briefly to take on some ice.”
Like I said, I observed and adapted it all to suit this farcical state that is America’s current government, or lack of it.
As for why ‘they’ do it. Well in my opinion they have spent years having to standby while society progressed in a sort of stop-go fashion granting more rights and endeavouring to seek out more equality. They just could not stand it, their shared neuroses was such they felt this progress would be personally imposed upon them, so like unlike rational folk who would just say ‘Hmm. Not for me. But. So what? Live and let live I say’ they have to impose their narrow hypocritical and hysterical views on a whole nation.
Sadly it is common enough down history and always ends up badly.
This is why folk who are liberal cannot afford to be complacent and treat these revisionists are jokes. They are threats. They are a danger to the stability of a nation. The moment they rise they need to be confronted.
