Remember when Joe Biden appeared to dose off and the right went into outrage mode. Turned out it was edited doctored video. Fox entertainment played the doctored video repeatedly and their rage emotions host made it sound like Biden needed to sleep every other hour. Yet not a mention of the tRump falling asleep. Hug
The excitement of a trip to Saudi Arabia apparently didn’t last long for 78-year-old U.S. President Donald Trump: In fact, the special welcome ceremony appeared to be a snoozer.
Trump landed in Riyadh on Tuesday as part of a four-day tour of the Middle East, where he claims he will secure billions in investments and trade agreements with Gulf nations. (He may also pick up a free plane.)
But the long red-eye flight from the U.S. appeared to have taken its toll; Trump was frequently seen with his eyes closed and once appeared to jolt himself awake during a special ceremony held in his honor at the Saudi royal court byCrown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the country’s de facto ruler, whopreviously ordered the killingof Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

The prince was more forgiving of Trump’s inattention, but it was noted by those watching on social media.
“Trump is having a hard time keeping his eyes open in Saudi Arabia,” reporter Aaron Rupar wrote while sharing a clip of Trump appearing to nod off on X.
Another X user posted: “Sleepy Don can barely keep his eyes open while representing the United States in Saudi Arabia. If this were President Biden, there would be nonstop coverage of his cognitive condition and physical fitness. Where is the media outrage?”
White House Communications Director Steven Cheung denied that Trump wasn’t paying attention.
“It’s clear that President Trump was fully engaged and listening intently as he finalized historic deals on his return to Saudi Arabia,” he said. “The Daily Beast should perk up and stop slacking instead of taking their cues of liberal liars who have shown a history of deceiving the American people.”

The napping habits of his predecessor, of course, prompted Trump to call President Joe Biden, “Sleepy Joe.”
But Trump, who will overtake Biden as the oldest sitting president in U.S. history during the final year of his second term, has often faced accusations of dozing off in public.
One of the most high-profile incidents came during his 2024 hush money trial, where reporters inside the New York courtroom said that he appeared to fall asleep during the historic proceedings.
Trump claimed he was fully conscious throughout the trial in posts on Truth Social during the proceedings.
“I don’t fall asleep during the Crooked D.A.’s Witch Hunt, especially not today. I simply close my beautiful blue eyes, sometimes, listen intensely, and take it ALL in!!!” Trump wrote.
Whether Trump was simply trying to “take it all in” with his “beautiful blue eyes” closed in Saudi Arabia remains unclear.

There is always an element of hypocrisy within government.
Seldom with a democracy has it been seen flaunted so blatantly. I would suggest the term morally bankrupt, but since Trump is used to bankruptcy as a get out clause it is hardly worth mentioning.
Hi Roger. I think you missed what I wrote at the start. Yes tRump is corrupt but what do you think of the fact that the right at all level including tRump made a huge deal out of Biden being old slow, had a speaking problem, and was shown in a doctored video to be napping. The video was a fake that tRump thought was real and pushed it that Biden slept all the time. Right wing media made a big deal of it then claiming that Biden needed daily naps every few hours. Yet here is tRump who falls asleep in court, who in his first term worked only three hours a day because he never came to the office until 11 and left by three or earlier. Now that tRump has fallen asleep several times during an event put on for him with all the pomp he desperately craves the right is silent with no reporting on it. The little that has been reported has not been played up in the corporate media. It is so one sided it is no wonder our democracy is failing. Hugs
Hi Roger. Now you got me intrigued. I was just so fuming and hopping mad at the time, that was the most I could come out with. (Short of ‘bad’ words)
As I have told you before only censor yourself for your own health / good / benefit because for me there is great wisdom and truth to your rants. When you cut loose I learn more than just the history, I learn the emotion behind it. I may have not had much of an education, but I do have enough to recognize someone who does have one. Plus your first comment was true. No doubt you got it correct about tRump and his administration.
I admit I was selfish in I wanted your opinion on the way the media and other groups hid tRump’s failings to then highlight Biden’s who was still able to govern the country. My idea is that all the main stream media is now corporate owned and they love the clicks and attention that tRump brings while Biden did create that frenzied need to always know what he did next like tRump does. Corporate media has always pulled for tRump due to the profits he gave them in stories people craved daily to read. Hugs
I’ll level with you Scottie (Jill is used to this; Sheila and my daughters and son despair).
What I endeavour to keep locked up or at least suppressed are a rather very strong set of solutions to rather extreme sets of problems.
I guess they may have had their origins in being born very much in the still fresh aftermath of WWII and a very caring father who had served in that war at the same age as the young men who served in Vietnam. There again in seems on my paternal line although dutiful and caring to our families we all have had these strong opinions on how to deal with outside ‘threats’.
But to repeat I keep it all redacted and for my mind only.
Except in my fictional writing, where one of my central characters, normally a caring, roguish fantasy like Lord of the Rings version of a medic having witnessed the brutal sack of a city have developed a very dark side and woebetide any thug, brute would be rapist who crosses her path she calmly refers to her actions as ‘Retribution’ . Her lover and later wife and a close friend spend time in the books ensuring she’s kept in check from getting too used to that lest it unhinges her.
As it is said in writing’ but I digress’.
Why the media pounced on Biden but gave Trump an easy ride? My opinion. They were and are afraid of the folk that put him where he is. Not the ones who bankroll, the bankrollers are part of the system. I mean to howling mobs of fanatical people who wanted a loose cannon to do as they demanded of him. They have been playing the intimidation card ever since Obama got into the Whitehouse, and the established media is not used to working with the threats that their colleagues have to work under in other nations.
That’s the dirty little secret no one wants to talk about. The American version of the German 1930s SA (Sturmabteilung), the Nazi Party’s paramilitary wing, also known as “Brownshirts.” thugs who attacked Jews, Journalists, opposition parties. They actually got a bit out of control as far as the Nazi hierarchy and the established Army were concerned and had to be deal with (that’s another story). So Biden was an easy target, since the Democrats were woefully split in 2024 (like our UK Labour in 2017-2019) his woes would make good copy. Only the columnists and independents targeted Trump.
I think I’ve covered all the bases now Scottie and it’s getting on to 7.00pm UK time, when Sheila insists I wind down.
So I’ll quit now.
Take care and best wishes.
Roger
Thanks Roger. I guess it is good to keep that part inside just as I had to remove the intense hate I was feeling about those who abused me from inside me. It was doing me more damage than them. It was effecting my relationship with Ron. I made a choice to not let them destroy me, just as I chose not to be like them in all ways. Best wishes always. Hugs
I know the feeling and the challenge Scottie, albeit it on a much lesser level.
When watching the News or going on the Internet and reading politics, current events, international events I would get very angry, and quite toxic which would worry Sheila and also make the atmosphere miserable for her, so I resolved to draw back. Concentrate on the Home and Family.
That doesn’t mean to pretend things are nothing to do with me, but it’s more a questioning of being supportive for my family and my friends on ‘The Net’.
And as you say ‘chose not to be like them’- wise words indeed.
