This is the rights version of civil discourse under thug mob boss wannabe tRump. They shout disregard rules, insult Mike threaten and make people afraid but blame the left for it all. They ar thugs who get rewarded by being ever more oppressive. They do not want democracy and rules, they want their own way and the right to force others to live as they demand. It is the horrifying society they want and seems to be the plot of every dystopian move. They want warlords running the show Mad Max movie style. Because they’ve always been afraid of the right. The right is armed to the teeth. It’s been like this for a few decades, at least, now. Centrists and liberals are controllable, the rightwingers are not, because they’re armed.
We could have prevented this back in the late 80s and 90s, but we didn’t think it was so much, then. And now here we are.

Hi Ali. Yes you are correct. But we have two issues against the reforms we as a country desperately need on guns. A small group of gun advocates seeking profit pushed the idea of massive crime, a self defense right, and the need of a gun for protection against the tyrannical government / anyone they felt threatened by like the black family down the street. I am talking about the NRA which started as a club / group that mostly was for hunters. They ran gun courses and talked sensible gun control / storage regulations. Then under Wayne Laporte the NRA became a paid shill for the gun manufactures. The more guns sold the more individual wealth and power gained my both the NRA and Laporte. They were aided by a gun fanatic SCOTUS Justice Scalia who created an individual gun right out of thin air by ignoring the first part of the Second Amendment.
The other issue we have is two part in itself. The Democratic Party and the left want to create a better world for the people, the public. Well that was the party before Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer moved to the right over and over again chasing the mythical center along with trying harder to get corporate donations. The more to the right the party the less the working people, people in unions, and the lower incomes felt the party responded or worked for them instead of big business and the wealthy.
The second part of that is the party wants to play by the rules and be seen as better than the other party, more civil, more correct. Remember the slogan “When they go low we go high”? That mindset caused us to be civil as the other side got more vicious, crude, and more willing to use threats / violence to get their way. We would bring the rule book to the congressional debates while the other side played dirty with complete joy and disregard for the rules. We said facts playing to people’s reason while the other side spewed misinformation, lies, and hate playing on emotions. Emotion inspires and motivates people far quicker and more deeply than reason. Our side is well known for bring a knife to a gun fight. Also our side is well known for blinking in the staring contests.
Because the right goes low to get their way they will kill the hostages to get what they want. The left cares about people and the party still cares about the appearances enough that they will give into republican / the rights demands just to save the hostages. Or in the case of recent politics Chuck Schumer gave in accepting everything negative and bad along with giving up every advantage the democrats had by voting to move the republican budget forward to keep the government open. Schumer thought the republicans would let them have a few amendments and small wins in the budget. Nope the republicans steam rolled over the democrats pushing the worst assault on the people / public in a budget yet giving tRump everything he wanted to profit himself while pleasing his wealthy supporters. For nothing.
The democrats gained nothing and lost our one advantage point. Now on the new budget tRump has told the republican leadership to ignore the democrats and the republicans are depending on the democrats blinking, giving in again as our side has become famous in the last 20 years for doing. The republicans won’t deal, or give in, or compromise because to them a compromise is getting everything they want and the other side apologizing for not giving in sooner. The Democratic Party / left has to learn to play as tough and dirty as the republicans / right does or we are going to be only a footnote in the history books. Remember the republicans now are not the republicans of today are not the republicans of the 1980s. The democratic leadership is stuck in that time frame as was Biden. And the republicans used that against us getting Biden only a fraction of what he wanted while using all the force, power, and dirty tricks to give tRump everything he wanted. The republicans want and are fighting for a one party rule like in China or Russia. Hugs
