Hello Everyone.  I have not been feeling well the last few days, and I stopped eating.  This morning I woke up in a soaking sweat, like I was in a shower or swimming pool.  I woke Ron who helped me take my blood sugar, and it was 46.  Ron was going out of his mind.  He kept telling me we needed to go to the hospital.  I took four glucose tablets and went back to bed.  I was then able to sleep a few hours.  Then I got up.  I have felt like shit all day. But I wanted to address comments before I go to bed.  I will spend tomorrow morning doing comments until I get all caught up.  Thanks for commenting; I love reading them.   Hugs

    1. Hi MDavis. I am sorry no I don’t remember the priority list. I missed a lot of comments for a while. I am trying really hard to not miss anymore. Things got crazy here and I really need to email you. I had surgery, Ron had surgery, there are ongoing renvations. Ron’s health and my health. The fact Ron says I am getting more and more blind but we had to stop my cataract surgery to get his done first.

I don’t have a laptop, but I have access to one and can make work. Plus my iPad works OK for most things I just have to carry the backup batteries to keep it running as the internal battery has about five minutes of life. We need to get me a new one, but with all the construction and the surgeries it is a low priority.

MDavis Ron was just panicking. I knew what to do, I recognized the symptoms which is why I woke him as I struggled to get my blood sugar reading. I understand how critical it can be and how close to going into a diabetic coma I was. My body was shaking and I was drenched in sweat. But I explained to Ron as he well knows if he finds me down or I go down due to sugar symptoms we only need to call 911. They will send parametics out with a firetruck. They will take my blood sugar and then give me dexstrose -50. Within minutes, I will be back up. However, they will insist on seeing me eat before they leave.

It is funny that Ron is far more medical than I, he worked in the medical field for like 27 years. Me only for 4 years, and I really don’t have much medical knowledge compared to him. Yet when I have a sugar event he panics. On the other hand I have accidentally cut myself while working in the kitchen, and some times rather badly, and Dr. Ron jumps into action holding compression, cleaning the wound, and bandaging it. Totally calm and efficient. The only time he freaks out on me is the sugar stuff and I think I know why. It normally happens at night, while we are both sleeping. He is unable to watch me until I wake him. I think his fear is what if I don’t manage to wake him? Hugs

      1. That makes sense, like in injury is an event to deal with but blood sugar is an ambush.

As to the list, it was a suggested list of priorities for you, asking you to take care of yourself and put your health needs ahead of other stuff. The one I quoted was, I think, because you had said you were worried about Ron taking on to much over concerns for you. I don’t even remember who originally sent it to you. Alas.

Some other stuff was like sleep as much as you need to, you need calories to heal (and now you’ve mentioned having the stomach thing, that’s gotta make that hard), if a project is not going well you have to find a way to be in charge of it rather than let your persistence hurt you.

And it’s time for a late dinner for me. I forget to eat enough so I keep snacks on hand, but it’s better to have a real meal.

        Good night, Scotie.

        1. Hi MDavis. Because you mentioned sleep I wanted to come back to your comment. I wear my Apple Watch during the night. It monitors my heart rate which in the past I had issues with. Now it monitors my sleep. I have a sleep score of 25. Acorrding to my watch I am getting about 3 hours of sleep at night. I can agree. I have some periods of good sleep but often they are interrupted by night mares or other needs, such as needing to go urinate. I often get up in the night like last night. Ron came to bed at 9 pm, and I declined to cuddle. Then at 10 pm, I got up because I couldn’t fall back to sleep. I did not go back to bed until 2:30 am. Then got up again at 4:30 am. So I am not sleeping. So does this lack of sleep have anything to do with my eating issues, I don’t know but Ron is getting upset enough that every night now he asks if I want to cuddle which requires moving the cat towels from the center to my side of the bed and I go to the middle. Most nights now I beg off claiming I am too tired, but the truth is I get up so many times at night it is hard when we cuddle. Hugs

  1. I am sorry to hear this, my brother. I can present all manner of advice and encouragement to you and Ron. But experience tells me that regardless of our best interests, sometimes we lose the thread. So I’m going to concentrate my energy on helping you recover the thread. Hugs ‘n cheers, mon ami. May you turn the corner soon.

    1. Hi Michael. Thank you. I am already doing better today. I understand what I need to do to get my stomach working again. First, I have to have something in it that will absorb the gases and acids while letting the stomach empty without the pressure. I used to use dry toast, the staple of sick kids / sailors everywhere. But the Belvita crunch cinnamon brown sugar seems to work even better. I normally use the cookies to help my bowel movements be regular. Today I followed it up with small sips of my caffeine-free diet soda. That gave me the burbs to help reduce the gas. I then at 10 am ate a half of the sandwich I made last night. Half way through it, I had to stop eating the bread and just eat the meat. And the way I make sandwiches, there is a lot of meat. While my stomach complained it was very full I did not feel nauseous. I felt like I ate a huge meal at thanksgiving or Christmas.

Remember I was on steriods for the last two months, totally jacked up and starving for anything I could get. Ron told me this morning that my belly has come way down in size lately. Sadly I will have to start taking more steroids soon.

One good thing is my mood changes. Ron and I have talked about it and he understands how emotional they make me. He also understands how what may seem like an offhand remark can hit me hard with three or four weeks of steriod injections. It can really hurt. He has learned it is Ok for him to say he is sorry for hurting me or for me thinking he meant something in a way he did not.

As to getting back on track, I am taking my time. I want to deal with the comments first. Then with back issues and stuff I missed posting. The people who take the time to post comments here deserve a reply and I have to find time to do so. I love the back and forth in the comment section. I see it as a discussion, a talk between us. I love that. Like this one. I may never have the privilege to speak with you in physical person, but with comments and replies I can. The exchange of ideas can open a mind, change an idea, or explain a thing. Hugs

    1. Hi Tengrain. Thank you. This is a situation that I have known about since 2012. My stomach simply shuts down instead of sending food down to the intestines, and then it also hits the problem I have with my stomach also being sensitive to pressure. The doctor who did my upper GI said that when he introduced air into my stomach I started to convulse. So what is happening is I went from a month of weekly steriod injections for my health, plus other injections. That resulted in me eating convulsively. Now suddenly I stopped having that outside force making me desperate to eat. My normal stomach reactions to food snapped back into being. So my stomach started to reject food because it felt there was no need for it and I had too much pressure in my stomach. The fact that there was no food in there and I was not trying to put more in seemed not to matter to my stomach and nervous system. I have been through this before but just not so severe. It is already working itself out. I just need a few days of normal eating and not overloading my stomach. Thanks again for your support. Hugs
