Veteran Palestinian-American Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh was killed by the Israeli Defense Forces in the West Bank during her assignment covering Israeli raids in the Jenin refugee camp. Israel disputes that she was killed on purpose by Israeli gunfire, even though multiple eyewitnesses claim that there was no fighting before Abu Akleh and her crew arrived as well as her wearing an obviously marked press vest.
“Israeli forces killed a Palestinian American journalist for the Al Jazeera news network in the West Bank early Wednesday, according to the network and the Palestinian Health Ministry. Israeli officials said the journalist, Shireen Abu Akleh, was killed in an exchange of gunfire but said they had not determined who fired the fatal shot. Abu Akleh, 51, a longtime Al Jazeera correspondent and a revered figure on Arab television screens, was shot in the neck while covering Israeli raids in the Jenin refugee camp, according to witness accounts. In a statement, Al Jazeera accused Israeli forces of killing Abu Akleh “in cold blood” and said she had been “clearly wearing a press jacket that identifies her as a journalist.” In interviews, multiple eyewitnesses — including two journalists who were standing next to Abu Akleh — disputed Israeli assertions that she was killed during crossfire, saying there was no fighting in the area just before Abu Akleh was shot.”
Republican Senator Steve Daines gave a speech on the Senate floor advocating for abortion to be restricted by comparing women to sea turtles and eagles. Daines argued that because we have laws that protect turtle and eagle eggs, the same logic must be applied to women and abortion rights since the animal egg laws protect the lives of unborn animals. But these lawmakers think there’s no issue with an increased amount of gun homicides in literally every region of the country.

Yet when it comes to a pre-born human baby rather than a sea turtle, that baby will be stripped of all protections in all 50 states under the Democrats’ bill we will be voting on tomorrow.” The rhetorical gambit to compare people who have babies to animals comes in advance of Wednesday’s scheduled vote on the Women’s Health Protection Act — a bill that would protect abortion rights across the country in advance of the US Supreme Court’s expected ruling reversing Roe v Wade next month.”
New York Time reporters Alex Burns and Johnathon Martin are continuing their series of leaking audio recordings from prominent Republicans and the newest revelation comes from Senator Lindsey Graham. A Louisiana pastor and headmaster of a Christian school who is also a member of the sate Republican Party governing board has been arrested for a second time on juvenile cruelty charges. John Raymond, 60, pastor of New Horizon Church in Slidell and founder of Lakeside Christian Academy, is an elected member of the Louisiana Republican Party State Central Committee.
Police said the new allegations include Raymond holding a 4-year-old boy upside down by his ankles and “whipping his buttocks” and in a separate incident covering the same child’s mouth and nose with his hand to stop a “tantrum.” Witnesses reported Raymond’s actions prevented the child from breathing “to the point of him going limp.” A staff member said the child was “out of it and lethargic” and “unable to stand.”
Raymond unsuccessfully ran for the Slidell-based 90th District seat in the state House of Representatives in 2018. His campaign played heavily on his support of President Donald Trump and his opposition to gay marriage, and Raymond touted himself as the most conservative Republican in a race that featured several other GOP candidates. He lost that race in a runoff to Mary DuBuisson, another Republican.
Raymond was a “Survivor” contestant in 2002; he was the voted off the island in Thailand. A story published about his exit from “Survivor” in 2002 described him as “bossy, dominating and (who) irritated his tribemates.” He has been active in state Republican politics as a member of the Louisiana Republican Party State Central Committee as credentials committee chair who determines if there is a quorum during meetings.

Raymond had previous been arrested by Slidell Police on April 7 and charged with three counts of cruelty to a juvenile after allegedly taping three 13-year-old students’ mouths shut with packing tape for talking too much in class.
Raymond said the students were offered a choice between calling their parents to say that they were suspended or having Raymond tape their mouths. He blamed the students for upsetting a teacher.

For those not familiar with Dave Rubin he has a history. He is after the big bucks. He used to be a liberal / progressive and was on the TYT network. But that doesn’t pay the big bucks so he switched becoming a right wing token gay on The Blase network spouting far right talking points. TheBlaze was a pay television network founded by Glenn Beck. Rubin became wealthy, bought a mansion and cozied up to people that hated him for being gay and insulted Rubins same sex marriage to his face on his own show. Then Rubin said he was moving to the maga haven of Florida from the evil liberal California. That is when his well paying buddies turned on him. The right attacked him, his spouse, the babies and are being vicious to him. He is shock by it, they are supposed to attack the other LGBTQ+ but leave him alone as his is their token gay. I am not sure but I heard that Beck turned on him and his show was moved to a crowd funded platform he co-founded. He is a gay version of Candice Owens, a token who spouts what the right wants to hear that the right uses to claim that even gay people (black in Owens case) support their wild ideas.

He claims to know all these personal relationship things about Ms. Jean-Pierre, but not a fucking thing about her career or qualifications. When he says “we know nothing,” he’s confessing both is own personal ignorance and lack of caring to go find out.
She has a long history in both politics and press relations dating back to the beginning of the Obama administration.
Misogyny isn’t limited to men in the LGBT world. There are clearly some conservative, lesbian and transgender female misogynists too, not to mention some misandrists of all genders in the LGBT community.
The members of the anti-transgender cults (aka TERFs) which closely work with far-right religious groups like the Heratige Foundation and Liberty Council, are some of the worst misogynists because on one hand they (falsely) claim to be feminists, then support the most misogynistic, anti-feminist groups around.
Western society is institutionally misogynistic (and racist, homophobic, transphobic, and all the rest of it). We have to unlearn the bigotries we absorb. A lot of people don’t bother.
It’s a good deal of work to root out all the racism and sexism and other bigotry we were indoctrinated with and discard it. I know I’m not done, but I am working on it. Some lgbt people just double down on it. I don’t get it.
She’s black and lesbian and therefore must not be as qualified as any white straight man who was under consideration for the job.
Seriously, Rubin just gets more deranged. I guess that’s what happens when you turn on your own community for a gig. No friends except for people who don’t believe he should have any rights. I’d rather starve.
