“Dixie” (Union Version) – Union Civil War Song
Wow another song I never heard and yet really like. Great message in this one. Hugs. Scottie
The song “Dixie” was the composed by Daniel Decatur Emmett and acted as an unofficial anthem for the Confederate States of America during the Civil War. Union Dixie is a version by the north that mocks the Confederacy, saying that they are “traitors,” overrun by “rattlesnakes and alligators” and asserting that the Union will be victorious, and “each Dixie boy must understand that he must mind his Uncle Sam.” This version is performed by Tennessee Ernie Ford.
I never seen or heard this, and I love it
Glynis Johns has died at 100. She appeared in many different things, but probably most notably as Mrs Banks in Mary Poppins. Stephen Sondheim wrote Send in the Clowns with her in mind.
Glynis Johns and Len Cariou recreate the “Send in the Clowns” scene and song from the end of A Little Night Music.
Court: Teacher Fired Over Dolly/Miley Song Can Sue
Think about the line that the school claims is unacceptable. “Wouldn’t it be nice to live in paradise… where we’re free to be exactly who we are.” That is what the school district finds so unacceptable. Why? It must be something to do with demanding everyone must live by the church doctrines of the minority. Hugs. Scottie
Courthouse News reports:
A federal court in Wisconsin declined to dismiss a teacher’s First Amendment retaliation claim against the school district that fired her for publishing a tweet critical of its decision to prohibit her first-graders from singing “Rainbowland” by Miley Cyrus and Dolly Parton at a school concert. She has shown that her employment was terminated for exercising her First Amendment rights, so her claim survives the motion.

Hello to Those Who Would Lead; By Randy
Hello to Those Who Would Lead;
I am confused sir and madam:
- You told me I lived in the Land of the Free but seek to force me to pray to your God.
- You told me I lived in the Land of the Brave, but you fear the love of two men, two women.
- You told me I lived in a land of laws, yet you refuse to hold the powerful to them.
- You told me not to ask what my country can do for me, but you take hand over fist.
- You told me how mighty our military stand, yet you undermine, pauper, and deny the soldiers.
- You told me how great my country is, yet restrict education, price me out of healthcare, refuse school lunch programs, deport the homeless, ignore the mentally ill.
- You told me to love my country, then told me to hate my neighbor because he believes differently, speaks differently, dresses differently, loves differently, lives differently.
- You told me my country loves me, but I think you are a liar.
[Intro]
La-da-da-da-da, la-da-da-da-da
Da-da-da
La-da-da-da-da, la-da-da-da-da
Da-da-da
[Verse 1]
We are searchlights, we can see in the dark
We are rockets, pointed up at the stars
We are billions of beautiful hearts
And you sold us down the river too far
[Chorus]
What about us?
What about all the times you said you had the answers?
What about us?
What about all the broken happy ever afters?
What about us?
What about all the plans that ended in disaster?
What about love? What about trust?
What about us?
[Verse 2]
We are problems that want to be solved
We are children that need to be loved
We were willin’, we came when you called
But man, you fooled us
Enough is enough, oh
[Chorus]
What about us?
What about all the times you said you had the answers?
What about us?
What about all the broken happy ever afters?
Oh, what about us?
What about all the plans that ended in disaster?
Oh, what about love? What about trust?
What about us?
What about us?
What about all the times you said you had the answers?
What about us?
What about all the broken happy ever afters?
Oh, what about us?
What about all the plans that ended in disaster?
Oh, what about love? What about trust?
What about us?
[Post-Chorus]
Oh, what about us?
What about all the plans that ended in disaster?
What about love? What about trust?
What about us?
[Bridge]
Sticks and stones, they may break these bones
But then, I’ll be ready, are you ready?
It’s the start of us, waking up, come on
Are you ready? I’ll be ready
I don’t want control, I want to let go
Are you ready? I’ll be ready
‘Cause now it’s time to let them know
We are ready, what about us?
[Chorus]
What about us?
What about all the times you said you had the answers?
So, what about us?
What about all the broken happy ever afters?
Oh, what about us?
What about all the plans that ended in disaster?
Oh, what about love? What about trust?
What about us?
What about us?
What about all the times you said you had the answers?
So, what about us?
What about all the broken happy ever afters?
Oh, what about us?
What about all the plans that ended in disaster?
Oh, what about love? What about trust?
What about us?
[Outro]
What about us?
What about us?
What about us?
What about us?
What about us?
What about us?
