I know just enough science to know absolutely nothing. But I do know enough to be aware that research is done on various levels, and when you confront a scientist that, say in analogy, he was going to Mars, and his response was that no-going to the moon. You can’t call him a liar just because both were destinations in space. That is the very “he lied” claim that the republicans are going after here. Further, the research was done in a lab, yes, but with restrictions that when found to have been not completely met was shut down. Still, never got to Mars.
The thing that I wish the republicans would do is pull back and consider the ramifications of their arguments. The only only only only thing they can do here is muddy waters. Making one of our leading scientists appear to be responsible for covid is irresponsible in the extreme. Perhaps they could remember that ultimately we are supposed to be on the same team.
But, as I mentioned earlier today, the republican morons seem very willing to pull any trigger, do any atrocity, to rule. And, if that means they are ruling over a destroyed country – well, guess that falls into “better rule in hell than follow in heaven”.

ps: I watched the Jesse Waters thing. He used really inappropriate language that those fools on the right who are quite trigger happy may willingly construe as a call to violence, he did stop well before that line.
Hey Randy you made three really great points. First science changes with new data. I keep hearing the right wing claim well first we were told do this and then that and then this thing. They have no context of the different circumstances or what was happening to make those differences necessary. In this it reminds me of the evangelicals who use this against evolution that latest information is found, or the right wing against climate change that new understanding of the data is giving a different worse result.
Your second point about Republicans or the right wing need to understand we are in this together. They don’t believe that. They see it as a zero sum game in of them vs us. They cannot win if we get anything. They need to demonize our side; they want everything to fail. That is how they win. They claim the government cannot work, they break government, they claim they were right and tell you to elect them to fix … the very things they caused. And the voters buy it, their cult believes it, and the right wing media pushes it.
Last on the Waters thing. This is dangerous. There is prior understanding how preaching this kind of stuff causes some of the maga crowd to try to kill the ones they think are enemies. They heard it from the leaders on stage, it must be true. Did they misunderstand it or not hear it correctly doesn’t enter into their thoughts? They heard ambush and kill shot. Some of them will try. Remember the Gabby Gifford shooting? Same thing. What about the nut Job body builder from Florida that sent all those pipe bombs to Democratic congress people and had a van plastered with pro-tRump and anti-Democrat stickers?
It is time to start holding these assholes and media accountable, they are playing fast in loose with the facts to the most instable of their base, almost hoping someone acts on their bullshit. Then smugly dancing away like Tucker does with the “I am just asking the question” bullshit. This has to end and it will either with an all out war on each political tribe or an effort by the country to fix the situation we have going right now. Scottie
