Hello Nan. Ya rather clueless of them, right? Manchin has clearly been signaling he only supports what the big money donors do and that he dislikes poor people. He thinks poor people are unworthy, which is entirely outdated propaganda of the wealthy. When I read the story I asked the why’s three times that helps get to the truth. My idea behind this story is the democrats cannot reach a deal as they should have known they couldn’t with Manchin and they are looking to place the blame not on themselves nor upset the people depending on them. How were they to know that when Manchin told them privately he wouldn’t support the bill he would hold to it? I just think this is a way to excuse them not hammering Manchin right from the beginning. They went with the carrot instead of the stick. Manchin was getting far more carrots elsewhere so he couldn’t care about the Democrats. They really needed to have used the stick. Scottie
