Extremist Rep. Paul Gosar: “Ukraine Is Not Our Ally And Russia Is Not Our Enemy, None Of This Is Putin’s Fault”

Dutifully parroted by state media outlet Russia Today:

Republican Rep. Paul Gosar (Arizona) has condemned the push from both parties in Washington to send billions of dollars worth of weapons to Ukraine. Gosar, an immigration hardliner and anti-interventionist, was one of 57 GOP lawmakers to vote against a $40 billion economic and military aid bill for Ukraine on Tuesday.

While a number of Republicans have been vocal in their opposition to fueling a “proxy war” in Ukraine, the GOP establishment has shouted down these critics, with conservative talk show host Mark Levin on Wednesday referring to the anti-war contingent of the party as “Putin a**-kissers.”

“Ukraine is not our ally,” Gosar shot back. “Russia is not our enemy. We need to address our crippling debt, inflation and immigration problems. None of this is Putin’s fault.”

  1. Sadly, a comment like this DOES appeal to some folks: Ukraine is not our ally. Russia is not our enemy. We need to address our crippling debt, inflation and immigration problems. None of this is Putin’s fault. Those that are feeling the very real effects of the problems he mentions will be likely to agree with him.

No doubt about it, these politicians know how to “work the crowd.”

    1. Hello Nan. Especially as the Republican / Fox base is not into nuance. They love the sound bites; they love the bumper sticker politics. but what concerns me is prior to tRump Paul Ryan had to ask his members to not repeat that the whip had said that there was two Republicans on the Russian payroll and named them. Now after tRump and with Russia trying to influence every election since 2016 hard, we can figure a lot more are taking campaign contribution or getting direct payments from Russia to work against the US interests and for the wishes of Putin. Remember that Republican’s like DeathSantis who refused to pull the Florida state investments out of Russia (and lost already about $300 million) and Rand Paul, who has attended dinners in Russia with Putin and publicly took something to Putin from tRump, who just voted against the money to help Ukraine defend itself. There were about 98 Republicans in the House of Representatives who refused to vote for the aid to Ukraine. Remember that back in 2016 McConnell was against tRump until a Russian oligarch offered to put an aluminum plant in his state. McConnell switched to supporting tRump and his state started to get a large influx of funds. Now I last I heard the deal had simply disappeared since McConnell got his money, and remember McConnell joined congress with no real money to speak of and has now become worth over 15 million. How is that possible? it is kickbacks, paybacks, and insider trading. But the people of his state have not gotten anything out of it. They are still very poor, way behind on healthcare, way behind in education, way behind in food security, way behind in housing, and not being represented in congress. After all they have Rand Paul and Moscow Mitch, both seemingly working with Russia. Hugs
