  1. Good one, Scottie! I was incensed when I first heard about this … more whitewashing of history by those who do not understand what that will one day lead to. It cements the fact that we are failing in our education system, that we MUST start teaching Civics classes again, that we MUST teach those things that some way will make our children “uncomfortable”. Better they be ‘uncomfortable’ today than slaves tomorrow! Hugs

    1. Hello Jill. Well said. These Fox persons were offended that all the good they promote of this man and is group of founders was not the only thing talked about. They were offended that the reality that he not only had slaves, but had sex with slaves who couldn’t refuse, found a favorite that he had repeated children with and enslaved the children. It comes down to these people need infallible heroes, who founded the perfect country under gods rule as it was then never changing. They need that to claim the founders never made a mistake and so all the rights we have today that come from the culture wars are null and void because the founders that were perfect and given that document by god never said that those social advances were OK. These right-wing women on these Fox shows think they are going back to the 1950s and they will be protected from the hardships, but in truth the real goal of these men is 1850s and these women have no protections or rights. I am sick of this drive to regress the country to a point where the only ones with any right was white wealthy land owning cis Christian males, second to them were non-land owning white cis Christian males. Hugs

      1. You say they want to go back to the 1950s or even the 1850s, but in truth, they want to go back to a time that never was. They want to see the world as something it isn’t and never can be. Like you, I am fed up to the gills with the repression of civil rights in an attempt to raise straight white males onto some sort of faux pedestal. Wealth … power … it is all that matters to them. Little do they know that at some point, neither will have any value. Sigh.

        1. Hello Jill. Yes very true. Plus while they want to take the culture back to the past they hate the government restrictions and taxes that helped raise an economic middle class and provide a country of services that was the envy of the world. Greed killed that and it is killing our economy now because the largest amount of people is too poor to buy and sell or to spend money that they don’t have. If they cannot spend to buy others cannot sell or be hired. If there is no hiring, then because the US has no safety net or UBI then there is no buying so there is no need for production. It is basic economics that you have to have money flow, and money that is stuck in investments or banks accounts of the wealthy are not flowing. Hugs

          1. Greed and a lust for power will be the downfall of the human species. Prime example is Manchin this week who refuses to vote for any bill that addresses climate change or increases taxes on the wealthy. He has only his own interests at heart here, since he is heavily invested in the coal industry and is one of the wealthy who might actually have to pay taxes if the bill passed. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr. 1. Hello Jill. I seen your post on this. Incredible how the government for the people by the people has been taken over by the wealthy seeking to do the bidding of the even more wealthy, hoping to increase the personal profit of all of them on the backs of the rest of us. Hugs

              1. Exactly! As I was telling Clive in a comment earlier, our wealth disparity/income disparity is at an all-time high, yet the politicians still protect the interests of the wealthy instead of the interests of the other 99%. And I used the same analogy … how can this be called a government “of the people, by the people, and for the people”? Unless, of course, only those with at least a million dollars are considered “people” and the rest of us are considered to be some lower species. Hugs

  2. I’m watching Joy Reid reporting on the abortion hearings in Congress.

It is incomprehensible that some of these people are in Congress.

I’m like the July moon. Fully lit.

    1. Hello Cagjr. I find it incredibly sad that ideology and ignorance are the main criteria qualifying these people for their office. The days when our congress and other elected officials were respected for both their past achievements and their present decorum are long gone. Hugs
