“Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that fatally wounded a Black man on Saturday in San Bernardino, California.

They say the man was armed at the time.

The incident occurred in a parking lot around 8 p.m., and was recorded by nearby surveillance cameras.

Disturbing silent footage, which shows uniformed authorities emerge from an unmarked vehicle and shoot 23-year-old Robert Adams in the back, was shared to social media and has since sparked outrage online.

In the video, which lasts about two minutes, Adams is first seen standing at the rear of a parked car speaking to someone he seems to know. He appears to face the unmarked police vehicle and briefly step toward it, at which point two officers exit the driver’s and passenger seat doors with their guns drawn.

Adams turns to run in the opposite direction and moves just a few paces before one officer discharges his weapon.

The bullet strikes Adams in the back, and he falls to the ground. Adams was transported to a hospital where he later died from his injuries.

His mother, Tamika Deavila King, responded to the shooting and surveillance footage in comments to CBS Los Angeles this week.

Like many others on Twitter and Facebook, she questioned the officer’s decision to fire his gun.”

  1. I’m sure there will be “more” information from the “legal authorities” about what happened, but from the video, one can’t help but wonder what the guy did except run! Which is understandable when a cop gets out of a car with a gun pointed at you!

    1. Hello Nan. The video said the police were investigating the place for holding illegal gambling. And it could be the guy was a lookout or some type of security for that. But the police do not get to decide the fate of people suspected of breaking the laws. The police are not judges, jury, or executioners. They are not a trial. That is not the police job or right to just kill people, even though they act like it these days. They left the car with guns drawn and the bright light interfering with the guy’s view of them. He turned and ran on seeing a couple guys rush out of a car with guns drawn. Seriously who wouldn’t run? And the police shot him running away. Everything I was trained so long ago says that is an illegal shooting. You don’t get to shoot someone who is not a threat to you or another. The SC has ruled that fleeing is not enough to justify shooting, but the police do it all the time. The department gets fined or the families get awarded damages, which the taxpayer pays, so the cops keep shooting people running because they don’t have any consequences for doing it. The people pay the money damages not the cops. I am not sure when but sometime in the last three decades cops became lawless thugs who feel they are above the laws, and get to make the laws as they feel like it. Remember that crazy thing some Sheriffs claim that gives them the right to decide what laws are constitutional and what they will enforce, claiming they have more power than the president or congress, even more authority than SCOTUS. This crap is really serious as we have a group of armed people who feel they are an occupying army over the rest of us. Hugs
