This is the damage that the rabid right wing rhetoric causes. Attacks on hospitals caring for kids. The right wing is working overtime to spread lies and misinformation about trans and other LGBTQ+ children getting the maga thug base so worked up they attack / abuse the LGBTQ+ over things that are not happening. This rhetoric gets repeated by people using the right wing sources yet claim not to be right wing? But you don’t see the misinformation posted in mainstream media, just in the rabid right media arm of the republican party. These toxic bomb throwers do not care about the truth which is the major medical group in the US promote and support with affirmative care for trans kids. As you can see, I am tired of the lies that are now increasing the threats and abuse of the LGBTQ+ and their supporters by maga thugs using these lies as a reason to attack. Just like these same thugs went after school boards and Dr Fauci along with any organization promoting medically approved safe practices for Covid. The right wing media kept promoting / pushing fringe doctors that were making lies, misinformation, and using misdirection to achieve their goal of making a political issue out of a medical one. Photo: ShutterstockChildren’s National Hospital in Washington D.C. has been targeted with bomb and death threats after the far-right anti-LGBTQ Twitter account Libs of TikTok falsely claimed that the hospital was performing hysterectomies (the removal of the uterus, cervix, fallopian tubes, and sometimes ovaries) on transgender children.
The post may have caused the Twitter access for Libs of TikTok to be suspended, The Daily Dot reported, as it hasn’t tweeted since last Friday.
Last Friday, Libs of TikTok’s founder Chaya Raichik posted an audio recording of her discussion with hospital telephone operators who said that “a 16-year-old trans boy would be eligible for a hysterectomy at the hospital’s gender development clinic,” The Washington Post reported.
One operator told Raichik that a 16-year-old child would be “in the clear” to receive the operation. A second operator told her that “all different type[s] of age groups” come in for the operation and that “kids” younger than 16 have come in for the procedure.
Right-wing media outlets like Fox News and The Daily Caller shared articles about the recording.
The hospital has since said that the telephone operators provided incorrect information. The World Professional Association for Transgender Health has said that hysterectomies shouldn’t be performed on minors.
“None of the people who were secretly recorded by this activist group deliver care to our patients,” hospital spokeswoman Ariana Ahmadi Perez said. “We do not and have never performed gender-affirming hysterectomies for anyone under the age of 18.”
However, the Twitter account’s claim was bolstered by the hospital’s website which stated, before Thursday, that gender-affirming hysterectomy was available to patients “between the ages of 0-21.” The erroneous statement has since been corrected, Perez told The Post.
This isn’t the first time that Libs of TikTok has directed ire against a hospital’s trans youth clinic.
On August 11, Raichik reposted about 13 tweets and a right-wing “expose” claiming that the Boston Children’s Hospital in Massachusetts was conducting gender-affirming surgery on children as young as two or three years old.
The fact-checking site PolitiFact later debunked the claims, but physicians at the hospitals received so many death threats, harassing calls, and emails that the hospital had to hire extra security and give doctors new guidance on responding to threats.
The hospital’s website says that surgery recipients must be at least 18 years old and have a “persistent, well-documented, gender dysphoria.”
Anti-LGBTQ politicians and activists have falsely claimed that medical providers are giving “irreversible” treatments to trans “children.” However, in reality, young children are only encouraged by medical professionals to continue exploring their gender. Pubescent children are given “puberty blockers” to give them time to stave off further biological changes while they decide on their future course of treatment.
Numerous states have introduced bills seeking to ban gender-affirming care for trans youth even though major U.S. medical associations have said such treatment is essential for the youths’ well-being.
Alabama and Arizona have both passed laws banning gender-affirming care for trans youth. Similar bills remain in committee in the Ohio and New Hampshire legislatures. Similar bills failed to become law in 12 other states.

Hello Roger. I agree. Sadly I have had deniers who commented on my posts on this issue who actually convinced people they were correct. I have to constantly push back and refute their disinformation. I get it that there are people uncomfortable with the changes in society, but time marches on and we as a civilized society learn new things … unless we are taken over by the Christian Taliban who will restrict any learning to what was known in the bible. Hello Roger. I posted a video from TYT that showed the operator was not saying that the kids could get underage sexual reassignment surgeries, the operator kept asking if the kids were under 18 and when told yes said that they qualified for treatment. Why under 18? Because it is a children’s hospital, they did not treat adults. This hate group and rabidly anti-trans Matt Walsh completely misrepresented what the operator’s said and meant. The operators constantly tried to transfer the caller to the correct department to answer the medical side of the question once they had determined that it was a kid being talked about. They have caused all this hate and threats of bombings based on a lie, and they knew it was a lie while they were pushing it. Hugs

I disagree. I listened to the recording and there was no “misrepresentation” of what was said. The caller asked questions, the hospital personnel answered them.

Hello Nan. Not at all. The operator kept asking the age of the patent, if they were under 18. She was told repeatedly that the prospective patient was 16. The operator makes no judgment as for medical procedures, they are not medical providers. I worked at a hospital, I understand that everyone has a lane to stay in. The operators job is to direct the phone calls, and it is a children’s hospital, which means no adult patients, 18 and over is not accepted for treatment. The operator was not saying that yes the patient could have the surgery, she had no say or position to even know if that was done there, she was saying are they under 18, yes, OK then we can treat them let me transfer you. She always followed that up with let me transfer you but the Raichik trying to get her sound bite kept asking her more questions. Now if they really wanted to know the information, they would have let the operator transfer them to the right department where they would have been told no. But they did not want the no answer, it wouldn’t give them the outrage the anti-trans people needed. Below I put the Sam Seder break down of the questions asked and the answers given by the operator. He goes over it calmly and clearly. He shows how Raichik and Walsh misconstrued responses of the operator. The first two minutes 13 seconds they play the clip with the written words on the screen. Then they break it down. It is only 7 minutes long and the CC is pretty good. Hugs

Well, let’s just say we don’t see eye-to-eye on this because I listened again to the recording –the one without the MR commentary– and I stick to my original comment.

Hello Nan. Then frankly I think you are wrong. You listened to the recording without the common sense breakdown, the recording offered by those biased to make the recording as incriminating as possible. The version you listened to was designed with the commentary to make it look bad. The Majority Report goes over it clearly and without sensationalism, highlighting the attempts of the operator to repeated determine the age of the possible patient, and repeatedly trying to transfer the call to the proper department that could answer a surgery question. The operator’s job was only to determine if the possible patient qualified to even be seen by the hospital and then transfer the call to the proper department. The way the right wing is framing the call is incorrect. The right wants to portray the operator as having the authority to say what is happening in the exam rooms and surgery rooms. They don’t. So if you want to understand the way the right wing has improperly framed this situation listen to the MR report on it. Hugs

OK, so “inaccurate information” was provided … but that does NOT change what I listened to on the recording. Your remarks about it being it being “without the “common sense breakdown” and that “The version you listened to was designed with the commentary to make it look bad” are after-the-fact comments.
I listened to the recording. Period. Without any knowledge that the call was made by someone who is against these surgeries/treatments. In fact, before all this hullabaloo, I didn’t even know the “Libs of TikTok” existed! So how was I to know there were ulterior motives involved??

Hello Nan. You proved my point for me. Thank you. In your quote that the hospital said the operator provided incorrect information. Sure I go to the hospital and say hey your operator says 16 years can get sex reassignment surgery, what do you have to say. And you say to me well that is wrong, they gave you the wrong information. It is all in the framing. I did not even catch that the first time I heard it. It took me hearing it a few times to catch it. As to if there were alternative motives, again I am talking about the framing of it. Simply by saying the operator gave this information you are setting up an expectation that you will hear the operator say something incorrect. The first two paragraphs of the article you linked to provide a set up full of descriptions of the supposed wrongdoing by the operators.
I simply don’t think the operators provided wrong information; I think the information they provided is being framed wrong. Not that facts matter to the Matt Welsh Libs of Tik Tok crowd and their hateful followers. No underage sexual reassignment surgeries are being done on minors for sexual resignment in the US or at these hospitals. The Libs of Tik Tok used that one call to drive attacks on three different children’s hospitals. Fact don’t matter to that crowd. Hugs

We are re-grouping with other matters on the horizon we will probably go again next spring, to the same place which we love.
If folk take extreme hateful stances I don’t try and ‘understand them’, History has enough examples to know the various paths which have bought them there. And also the consequences of their actions. They bring fear and suffering. They need to change their ways, not you or I.
