I am sitting here with everybody already gone to bed. Our generator is running but I took my first shower in 8 days today. My blog is down for awhile until things settle out. We have to salvage my desk and then find a place to put it or setup even One of my my computers. It is a disaster. I thank everyone and some day I will be able to reply to every wonderful comment. But right now I can’t even access them. Hugs

Hello TG. Thank you. We took 8 hours of eyewall strength wind and rain. I am in North Fort Myers and we took the direct hit path, but the storm rotated north so we never got the eye. We had to return to the home during the end of the hurricane to get James and then rush away to a parking lot to spend the night in the cars. That was after 24 hours to driving to the east coast and all down the east coast from WPB to Fort Lauderdale, then back across Alligator Ally. We spend hours at rest area on I-75. The front of the house that was my office is gone, the rest of the home took damage inside and out. But the part of the home still standing is livable, we have electric from a large generator we bought years ago, we have non drinkable running water, and food. So we are not in desperate for life conditions. It was hard for me to learn how to blog and reply to comments going from my office set up of two large computers and two 34 inch 4K monitors to a iPhone 12 max and an old air 2 iPad. The people here pulled together and put aside angers and hates to help each other. We appreciate all the support and well wishes we have received from the online community. Getting tarps was hard but Randy and Amazon came through with enough to cover the roof and what remaining part of our roof in the front of the house. So as I said it is hard, and scary as we have filed for FEMA but have no idea how to rebuild or to get the money to do it. But we are alive, all of us together (grumpy sometimes and on each other’s nerves) and we have what we need to live. Thanks to everyone. Lots of hugs.

Hello and thank you. I want to thank everyone who sent well wishes and their thoughts for us. We do appreciate it. When you lose so much and are in the lower income you often feel alone. The online community reached out and showed us we are not alone. Update is we are still running on the generator, we have non-drinkable water but we are not supposed flush toilets or shower because a lot of the lift stations are still down. But as the park only brought in a few portable toilets and left them at the office instead of through out the development we all do what we have to do. We have food for now, and James brought home two boxes of rather tasty MREs from his work place for the county. Drinkable water is still an issue but the worst is the cost of propane and the nearly every two days run to get it. Thanks again to every one. It is hard to say but we have it better than a lot of those that lost everything. We did lose the front of our home, we have inside water damage from roof damage, and a lot of our electronics are gone and the cat had a stroke or few or them but we are all alive and together. We have the things we need to live. Hopefully the government will soon step up and get services running and help us to rebuild. Hugs

Hello Lynda. Thank you so much. Sorry about the time it took to approve your comment, I just figured out there were unapproved ones and how to approve them. I lost my office and my computer set up so I am learning how to do everything with a IPad and phone. There are people who got it worse by losing their entire house, but we are one of the more damaged in our development. Hugs

Hello Richard. Thank you. It has been scary especially coming home while the storm was still going on at the end to get James who stayed in the house. We have it better than some, even in our park some homes are destroyed. Our main part of the house is livable and we have food and bottled water, James brought home two large boxes of new civilian type MREs from where he works at the country airport. We got some tarps sent to us to cover the roof from the destroyed from to the damaged other end. Being careful is important, James was not being careful the second day of cleanup and sliced his finger requiring a bunch of stitches. The guys slowed down and started thinking about what they were doing more. Hugs

Hello osirisopto. Thank you. Yes we are running on our generator. After Maria we were with out power for a few days and Ron has to use a CPAP to sleep so we bought a large generator. But we never got it set up and working until after this hurricane. Most people around us have power, but our pole is leaning over and the transformer is damaged with trees on the line. It is in a hard to get to spot so it will take a long time for them to fix it. Sorry for the delay in getting to your comment I just figured out how to approve them on the iPad. Hugs

Hello Becky. Thank you and TG. It has been hard. At first we did not even have our big generator so we had no electric and now water. We now have some non drinkable water, but the only electric is the generator. Lucky for us the generator we got years ago but never set up is large enough to run a couple window a/c units, and the refrigerator along with the few other appliances we need daily. We used a laundry mat for the first time in nearly 40 years the other day. The cat is recovering from his stroke. So things are getting better slowly. I lost my entire office and the front room of the house. Sorry for the delay in approving your comment, I just figured out how to do it with out my computers. Hugs

Hello Jimmy. You are correct. Every day things have gotten a little better, but the bank account gets smaller at the same time. We are better off than some, we still have some of our house to live in. We have food and the stores are returning to now with deliveries being made to them. Propane for the generator was the hardest thing at first to get, and we were lucky we thought to get a dual fuel one that takes gasoline also. When we couldn’t get propane James was able to get gas from the airport. We are still waiting for the electric company to come rest the pole behind out home and fix the transformer. There also is a few trees from the large church behind us on the lines. Our biggest worry is we are now retired with the cut in income that comes with it. How to rebuild and what will the government do for us? Hugs

Wow, Scotttie. What a depressing mees. But it sounds like people around you, who are in the same boat-out-of-water, so to speak,gather together and help each other. THAT is very cool. I hope you get your life back together soon! (Get a pair of white Wellingtons. That should help. Not.). But you and your loved ones are safe, and that’s primo.

Hello Roger. Your response was the most grand thing I could ask for. My governor who wants to be president has ignored our needs, the owners of the park I live in had no workers come to the park until today. Today is Wednesday well that is a week since the storm and this is the first time we seen any park workers. Well we only seen a couple of the maintenance workers. No office people, no information, no guidance but there is a rumor that they posted on Facebook a thing that we shouldn’t use our toilets and instead poop in bags and take it to the unemployed dumpster trash area. Hey they raise the trash pick up fee by 8 dollars, that is the raise, but we put our trash out today as it is trash pick up day and no one picked it up. I seen two park workers only this morning and not since. I wouldn’t be surprised if they quit by the end of the day. But the wealthy people got everything working for them, priority power, water, and help. We have to help each other. Best wishes and thanks to you and Sheila, knowing that people know about us and care is very important to Ron and I. Again than you both. It is really hard here right now. The only saving grace is that the people here shared food, grills, home space for those with out homes, everything we could. We did that. We poor people tried to look after each other. Hugs

As you say often the folk at the opposite end to the privileged have to look out for themselves. I am sad but surprised by your experiences in De Santis’ fiefdom.

Hello w3ski4me. Thank you. Your thoughts and your commenting on the blog are the only thing I would ask of you. It is not the responsibility of the people to respond to this disaster but the government and the people who own the park. We did not hear from them since the hurricane until today. They offered no guidance or assistance, but they did sent out a notice that the rents and other things like water and trash pick up are increasing by about $60 dollars. Big company and a low income park and they give no help and raise the cost. Well the people did band together, they pooled food and resources, we networked to tell people where to get fuel for the generators, we shared generator power to the homes nearest to us. People gathered at one home and had coffee in the morning and then at around noon that same home had lunch for everyone who came by, and the same at supper. That is what we all did for our selves, but no help from the park .. they brought in no water, no information, nothing they simply did not show up or send any messages. But again as I said they raised the rents. Love the idea of a new garden, unfortunately I can not see the image you sent. Best wishes. Hugs
