Hello taurusingemini. Yes medical science has shown there can be a difference between what is an observable sex at birth compared to both the mental and chemical make up of the person. There is a reason that trans people, people that know they are a different gender from their assigned birth gender since the beginning of gender in humans. History is full of stories of them. Same with gay people. It is only now that we are starting to understand the science behind it. And of course you have people rejecting the advances in understanding because it makes them uncomfortable. Hugs
