  1. Scottie, as I type this, I am watching a movie called “The German Lesson” about a little boy who went against his Nazi father after the Nazis band art work. Art. The Nazis saw it as subversive. Then I read your article and others about governors like DeSantis and Abbott. It is sad that people follow the wishes of these autocratic thinkers. Keith

    1. Hello Keith. These die hard republican / fundamentalist leaders are open about why they are doing this, putting this effort into taking over schools and forcing a strict whitewashed fake history along with indoctrinated patriotism. They want to stop social progress that is shrinking both groups. The Republican Party is a minority party that is trying to rule, forcing the majority to accept polices / ideas they don’t want or agree with. Fundamentalist are seeing a steep decline in church attendance and donations as they become ever out of step with society and try to force the country to accept a morality totally out of line with the population’s views. It is totally about control, power, and money. Both groups see the kids as the way to gain that.

For a long time, concertizes who live in isolated communities have complained that young people who go to college / universities tend to move from their right wing religious views of their parents. In fact several churches forbid higher education due to young people expanding their belief systems. That is normal as they are exposed to new ideas and different groups of people. The solution the right wing / fundamentalist Christians came up with was to start their own ideological driven schools. But the majority of students still go to secular public schools, so now the attack is to make the public schools fundamentalist right wing ideologically drive indoctrination camps in an effort to rebuild their shrinking numbers. And the public majority that is against this be damned, the ideologues are doing it anyway. The religious / right see it as the only way to save their power bases. And the bitch of it is they use a small violent unreasoning mob to get the majority to be fearful and back down, look at school board meetings in right wing areas. It is scary what they want to do, it is totally reeducation camps for the public masses, and ruining the education / understanding of a generation of children. Hugs
