Matt Walsh is WRONG about sex | The Biological Sex Constellation

This is for those who have tried to say that gametes are the total determination of sex. That is wrong and has been wrong for some time. Again gains in scientific medical studies shows sex is not binary. Medical understanding has evolved, knowledge has moved on from the textbooks of the 1950s. I wish some people could. What an incredible video. At the very end in a small few second clips he explains about his finger nails. Hugs

  1. Definition of binary: Consisting of two (units, components, elements or terms).

Thus, SEX is binary since it refers to the presence of either one or the other of two possible physical reproductive organs.

Gender, on the other hand is a mental state and has little to nothing to do with a person’s physical sex organs.

The fact there are occasional abnormalities in sex organs does not diminish the fact that sex is a biological consideration.

    1. Nan did you even watch the video? What you wrote was one of the first things covered. And showed it is wrong. In fact it was what the video was about! The fact is you can chart the level of how much a person is male, not all males will be in the same groupings but instead spread out. Same for females.

In the past people did not know all the things that went into the sex of a person, so they used just the presentation of the genitals. If it dangled it was a boy, if not it was a girl. Medical science has progressed much more now. We know that you can have a dangle, but chemically be more female.

What you mean when you say abnormalities are intersex people. They make up more of the population than people with red hair.

I am sorry you seem unable to accept medical advances in biology. There are always those who for some reason deny new scientific discovery / information. Look at climate changed deniers. Look at anti-vaccine people. Hell there are still some people who claim the earth is flat. I just never thought you would be one of those. Hugs

      1. I am sorry as well that you continue to believe that there is more than two innate physical sexes. While the brain and the emotions may dictate to an individual that they are not what their physical anatomy indicates, that is an entirely different topic and one that I have chosen, as you know, not to enter into.

        1. Nan, you are confusing gender and sex. No one is talking trans or gender here. There is no one physical sex and there are not just two distinct physical sexes. Because of everything that goes into create the human sex it is a sliding scale from everything being fully male to everything being fully female which includes everything in between. It is not just two separate circles. It is a line between the two poles. Hugs

No, Scottie, I am not. And I made this clear in my very first comment. Let me repeat: Sex is biological. Gender is mental.

Even if things are present in a person’s BRAIN that influence their personal/mental identification, the fact remains they are PHYSICALLY either male or female.

            1. Yes it is Nan, it is biological. And medical advancements have shown that sex is not binary! I am talking biology. From the article I just posted from Scientific American.

But beyond this, there could be even more variation. Since the 1990s, researchers have identified more than 25 genes involved in DSDs, and next-generation DNA sequencing in the past few years has uncovered a wide range of variations in these genes that have mild effects on individuals, rather than causing DSDs. “Biologically, it’s a spectrum,” says Vilain.

Nan a person’s sex is more than a sex organ. It is a mixture of so many biological elements of the body. No one is completely male or completely female. We are all on that spectrum. We are a blend. Hugs

              1. I would agree that we are on a spectrum. Each of us at one time or another (even for lifetimes) demonstrates traits and inherent actions common to the opposite SEX. However, this does NOT physically change the sex organs all humans are commonly born with.

I agree there are multiple advances in the studies of human beings and their bodies, but the discovery of certain genes and DNA sequencing does not suddenly mean that the physical attributes associated with whether a person is born male or female has been changed.

IOW, Scottie, it’s all mental. And this is what we cannot seem to agree upon.

                1. Hello Nan. The medical scientist disagrees with you. Again we are talking the chemical genetic soup each of us are. We are not talking behavior at all. We are talking about is there such a thing as only male and only female. The medical answer is no. Instead it is some people are more male biological and some are more female biologically.

For example, if you look at two males both who have penises. One may be more fully chemically and genetic male than the other. That spectrum of maleness slides all the way to where a person is now slight more female than male. That slides all the way to someone who is almost or all genetically and chemically female. It is a gradient. It has nothing to do with the penis or the vagina.

                2. Hey Nan. I just realized when I said it has nothing to do with the penis or the vagina, I left out why. A penis is not what makes a person male, nor is a vagina what makes a person female. According to the biologist is the complex constellations of chemicals, switches, genes, chromosomes, and all the rest that makes up biological units. Hugs

    1. Hello Ali. Yes he is a good communicator, but most important he uses facts, does the research, and cites his sources. And he gives his own qualifications / education level. I have had it said to me that gametes are the entire sex binary, small one or large ones. Sperm or egg. But that is not true, we have a better understanding of it now. I watch right wing videos that have someone proclaiming if they have a penis they’re a boy, but again not true, it ignores the constellation of other biological factors. Hugs
