Reverse Christianity

What if the afterlife wasn’t what you thought it was? What if the standards you accepted for others were turned against you?

  1. That’s why Jesus said “live by the sword, die by the sword,” and “judge not, lest ye be judged.” Well, I believe He said it, but the above is precisely the point. There-no proselytizing. ☮🖖

      1. OK, I’m not blushing quite so hard now that it’s over! ☺😉 Some day when the real problems aren’t so great, I’ll explain why I don’t think anyone’s really going to hell, no matter how much I love the Bastard Fairies’s song. This was good, Scottie, thank you!

        1. Hello Ali. I never believed in hell either. It makes no sense, was not in the original manuscripts, in the OT it says the dead know not anything, and even Christian scholars can not agree on what burning forever means. I have read it described as burning until you are totally gone, hell described as the separation from god, or the eternal feeling of being burned alive but never being consumed, and I think the idea of hell as eternal punishment was to force more people to do as they were told by corrupt religious leaders. It was originally a scare tactic that got entrenched as canon. Hugs

  2. Yeah, this is, another way, to, fulfill the, delusions of, immortality of, people who want to live, forever, and, if this technology becomes, viable, then, it will, surely, bring the, human race to, an, end, as we would all, become, machines with consciousness…and, there’s no 100 percent, human beings, as the “parts” that get broken will be, replaced somehow.

    1. Hello TAURUSINGEMINI. I think you may have misunderstood the video? I think the video was only using the idea of human existence being digital to show that it was a test, that the people are really AI programs that think they are people who only think they are living on earth now, but are really in a computer simulation for testing. It is a test to see if they have empathy and compassion for fellow humans or if they will follow a clearly immoral harmful deity instead. The creator of the video has an entire series of god being a computer simulation of a school student to see how he would behave with total power / authority.

As to humans becoming more machine than organic material, that is an interesting topic isn’t it. We are making huge advancements in prosthesis and artificial joints. There has been huge advancements in medical science / technology for implanting chips or devices in the brain to help paralyzed people move or control things. As for humans becoming fully digital copies of what we were when they were alive, I think you would lose what it means / feels like to be human. Why do it? Hugs

  3. You know of course Scottie I’m not going along with this 😀. (prima facia as it were).
That said there are a whole truck load of contradictions and challenges that confront any Christian reader of the Old and New Testaments, when they read the English translation and try and fix those translations into a literal contemporary context without looking deeper into the Times, Places and Themes.
This is why there is the danger in taking words out of context to suit the reader’s prejudices.
Most moderate Christians get a bit ‘queasy’ with the Old Testament’s lurid parts, and it takes ‘work’- studying the history of the times, the language, the poetical allegory and so on and so on.
But we struggle on, accepting we are flawed folk, who need to do better…like everyday-we need to do better..in the heart need-to do better.
Anyway that’s where a substantial number of us are coming from, and why Fundamentalists are certain folk like me are going to Hell (Amazing how they think they believe they can second-guess God).

PS: Sorry I’ve not been around in your recent posts. Sort of tied up with dealing with my own ‘stuff’ and time seems to fly. I just want to say how impressed I am by your output of posts and dedication. Keep on keeping on!

    1. Hello Roger. I agree with you that the original meanings got changed or mistranslated, that people added or subtracted or changed parts to create a narrative. But wouldn’t you say as a religious person, that our time on earth is a test and that there will be a time of judgment at the end? I thought that was the point a lot of people make when pushing a faith or religion on others, they are saving your soul from eternal damnation in the never ending afterlife?

The creator of the video has an entire series where the god Yahweh turns out to be a student in a computer simulation as a test to see what he would do with complete power and authority. The question of what would you do or who would you be with ultimate power. He shifts the story from on the ground with specific examples with a nemesis who turns out to be his real life faculty advisor trying to help him in the test to some videos that show that same god in the clouds with a cherub who again is the advisor trying to guide him.

I know the videos would be offensive to many religious people who watch them, but they were not made to be for deeply spiritual / religious people like yourself who use your faith a personal guide, a sort of code of honor that you apply to yourself without imposing on others. To me, the faith you have displayed is a deep spiritual connection that is admirable. Your connection is between you and your deity, and you seem to be passing the test that the video creator set up in the video series. These videos along with the others he has created over a long time are to show the flaws of fundamentalist religious people who use their religion like a weapon to bash others, the Taliban moral police types that are forcing the removal of any mention of LGBTQ+ in schools and forcing everyone to live by their 1950s social strictures.

Peace and loves to you and Sheila. Hugs

      1. Hi Scottie.
Sorry for the delay in replying. My inoculation for Shingles on Monday caught up with me yesterday, thus I spent a lot of yesterday and part of today dozing off and this other part restricting myself to simple comments on WP and at home (like ‘Yes. I’ll have tea please’) 😆.
A couple of months ago I started a post off of my own blog dealing with the subject of religion from ‘a middle space’ as it were. Inspired by your recent posts this will have to be completed🙂(As soon as I finish a blog challenge for this month ).

I whole heartedly agree Scottie about Life being a test. The broad spectrum of across all of Christianity has many theories, interpretations and challenges about an Afterlife . For instance a person dies, goes to a Heaven and meets….. Hitler! (Which is for some a theological possibility – no kidding- explanations available on request). …..
        ……And 40 mins later….. (After a family phone call….long story).
I have not finished replying fully yet Scottie, but wanted to contact you let you know….still here and talking.😀.
Will get back to you tomorrrow, with much more because there are a few replies on other posts pending.
        Take care
        Roger & Sheila.

        1. Hello Roger. Please never stress at the delay in replies. I understand how life can get in the way of constant computer time. Remember I lost nearly 6 months to severe illness, and just this week with doctors visits and medical issues I lost more comments and was late replying to the others this week.

I remember my shingles shots last year. The first one did not bother me but the second one made my arm swell, get really hot, and made me feel icky for a day.

I look forward to your post. Hugs

          1. Thanks very much Scottie for your kind words of assurance.
Sorry to hear about your Shingel’s 2nd jab, a friend of Sheila’s needed too and the 2nd one hit her similar to you.
Apparently I only needed the one.
I hope you are feeling better now. Keep on with your good work. Let the world know about these injustices and hate-crimes.

I will be getting to work on that post in the next weeks or so. It will mostly addressed to folk who have no particular religious beliefs but being horrified by what is coming out of the extremists of all sorts have concerns about religion.
It’s going to be complicated, it might even run to two parts, because it will be bound to include politics and despite what some folk would wish, the two cannot be separated.
            Wish me luck! 😀

            1. Re: shingles vaccines — it’s my understanding that a second one CAN be skipped but it’s recommended because the first one doesn’t always provide adequate protection. And when you’re old like I am, you want all the protection you can get! 😁

              1. Quite!
I kept dodging the issue until one day a report of what Shingels can bring really had me scuttling off!
In the UK, the system is One ‘Jab’ does the trick, but if a person has other health issues Two might be needed. Mind you before the needle there are a host of questions to answer, some of which make you pause for thought wondering ‘Did I have at all?’🤨
As you say though…..All the protection you can get!👍

              2. Hello Nan. I did not know that. The pharmacy I got it at simply gave me a date range to return, and I did on the first day with in that range. I really believe in vaccines, but I forget for stores there is a profit to be made. Hugs

    1. I understand Roger. I get typing so fast trying to put all the thoughts running through my head down that when I go back to look I skipped typing some words I was sure I had, joined sentences that were to be different ideas, and often just missed stuff. Half the time I never catch the mistakes even after reading them over until after they are posted, then the mistakes become glaring.

As to the message at the end of the bible. So much of the bible or any holy scripture of any religion is so pretty much up to interpretation, which is why all religions have many sects. It is a product of the holy works written so long ago in different languages for different times. They have to be adjusted to fit our modern age, which is why biblical literalism is so harmful. It makes no sense to claim the all-knowing god thought the peak of civilization was 2,500 years ago when understand and knowledge was so limited compared to today. To think or demand that things never change and remain as they were back then cheapens the message these writings want to promote in my opinion. And some of the chapters of the bible I tried to read sounded like a drug filled anger hallucination, such as Revelations.

The message that some practitioner of religion craft from their understanding is a good message. One I strongly support. The idea of treating others as you hope they will treat you, caring for others, taking care of those that need help, and so on. These are positive wonderful ideas / messages. There are other positive ideas people gleam from their scriptures, and it is true for nearly all religions / faiths.

What terrifies me are the ones that pervert that positive message and use their beliefs to oppress and terrorize others. Hugs
